I am just wondering what the best way to remove commercials from HDTV files are?

My files are DVR-MS files and the only BDA multiplexers that seem to work on my system are the DVR-MS and the Cyberlink. Comskip seems to find the commercials correctly at times and ot at others, so far I have not tried to tune it but the main problem seems to be that comclean does not work on my HD content.

Do I need to have GBPVR automatically convert them to MPEG 2 before comclean removes the commercial and if so where does this fit in the post processing?

Would I need to just select convert to MPEG 2 in the GBPVR Config or would it need to be put in Post Processing.bat?

If I convert to MPEG 2 will I lose any quality?

I am also looking at VideoRedo, but that cost $50 and is more time consuming. I am also trying out a program called DVRMSToolbox, but I am having trouble getting it installed, because of a weird .Net Framework error.

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried the TS muxer? Recent builds of Comskip work fairly well against TS files. I'm not sure if Comclean works with them though.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but nothing works better than hand-editing. None of my abortive attempts at auto-scanning are precise enough for my admittedly picky tastes.

VideoReDo might be $50, but it is very much worth it. It'll have no problem editing DVR-MS files directly. It'll have no problem saving the result in a native MPEG-2 container.

You lose nothing in the DVR-MS -> MPEG-2 conversion, assuming that the software doesn't try to recode. The embedded programming is already MPEG-2.

I am starting to get somewhere with videoredo and really liking it, but I am trying to do something with postprossing.bat and not having any luck. Here is what I would like to do.

1) Run comskip and create the videoredo project file
2) Use rename recordings to rename the file
3) Be able to open the videoredo project file in videoredo

I can get comskip to run and create the videoredo project file, but then after rename recordings runs the project file cannot be opened in videoredo. It is almost like the file has already been created with the original file name so it can't find the file with the new filename.

I tried moving rename recordings ahead of comskip in postprocessing.bat, but comskip does not run.

Thanks for any help.

Okay I can use the videoredo file if I go manually find the file with the new file name (so I guess I can live with that), but now I have a few comskip questions.

1) Is there a way to get that videoredo project file and not have GBPVR use the comskip files. I like getting the videoredo project file because it can save a little time, but comskip is not always right and that is kind of annoying in GBPVR.

2) If I cannot do the above, I am a little confused with the way comskip works because the WIKI says you need to press 0 or play to skp the commercials, but GBPVR seems to skip automatically when it comes to the commercial marker.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks,
John

Is there a way to run renamerecordings before comskip or show analyzer creates the VPRJ File. I am really wanting to test comskip versus show anaylzer, but I can't get rename recordings to work at all with show analyzer. I can at least get rename recordings to run after comskip. I have been trying to get ideas from this post, but I am not having any luck.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...owanalyzer

I really do not want Videoredo to automatically cut the commercials, but I thought that that specific postprocessing.bat might be a starting point. I tried that exact postprocessing.bat and it created a new file and all, but nothing was renamed.

Thanks,
John
