I have my router on top of my PC and currently have a 35m network cable between them (due to my old house layout). As you can imagine this is a bit excessive so I would like to swap it for a shorter one. I've got my eye on this cable, but want to check that it is just a short, standard network cable and is suitable for my needs. The 'UTP' is something I don't recognise. :confused:

UTP means unsheilded twisted pair - which is what a cat 5 is.

yeah should be, I just had to check you were talking router to pc and not pc to pc (that would need cross over cable).

yeah so was I, only started getting into networks and pcs in the last couple of years, so ive had a bit of a learning curve as well.

I really doubt if you could make one yourself for 64p.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.
