please see

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=29465&page=3

Upgrading to .16, I uninstalled and deleted devnz to avoid any issues. Re-installed fresh .16 release.

Got zap2xml, ran it to test output. The zap2xml contained channels and listing content. So I put the zap2xml .pl, cache folder, and xmlout file in a sub dir in Third Party folder. I then created an UpdateEPG.bat and tested it. It all worked. I ran config for the first time, setup my source, set xml plugin for epg, clicked on Empty EPG, Update EPG, message said it was updating. Channels showed up. Closed config. Started PVRX2 went to tv guide, and all channel have no listing info.

I have tried many combinations of setting up sources, saving, closing, re-saving, clearing, updating, re-installing, and I can't get the listings from the xml file into the db? Other posts show ppl having NO problem with this. So what am I missing?

Searching through my logs I find:

2007-09-19 22:08:52.734 VERBOSE [3] Loading XMLTV File: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\xmltv\xmltv.xml

It sounds like a badly formed xmltv file that incorrectly uses the channel ID more than once ('I47176.labs.zap2it.com' in this case), which makes the file invalid. You'd have to get the author of zap2xml to fix this.

It's most likely your Local Origination channels (LOOR*). If you have the option to disable channels, you should use that.

Is there any way to get an example of an xml file that successfully loads the tv guide. My problem is, I don't know what is wrong because I don't know what my target should be.

I believe the XML is properly formed. Here are two example channel definitions produced by zap2xml:

<display-name>2 WBBM</display-name>
<display-name>2</display-name>
<display-name>WBBM</display-name>

<display-name>3 WFLD</display-name>
<display-name>3</display-name>
<display-name>WFLD</display-name>

And here are some program entries for one of them:

<programme start="20070918233700 -0500" stop="20070919003700 -0500" channel="I11299.labs.zap2it.com">

The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson

<desc lang="en">Jeff Goldblum; Paul Haggis.</desc>

<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00715123.0587</episode-num>
<new />
</programme>
<programme start="20070919003700 -0500" stop="20070919013700 -0500" channel="I11299.labs.zap2it.com">

Dr. Phil

<desc lang="en">The dos and don'ts of etiquette.</desc>

<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00517851.0914</episode-num>
</programme>

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Disable what channels?

If the zap2xml app has the ability select or deselect channels for the output. I have never used the app so I don't know if you can or not.

That may be your problem. You would need to post your GB-PVR logs for me to tell you for sure.

I don't think it does internally, but you can control which channels it gets by changing your settings at zap2its website. What channels would I need to disable? I'm not sure what LOOR actually refers to, to be honest.

Ok, special characters can be removed by using the correct parameters to the zap2xml.pl. I will test and confirm.

NOTE: I got some strange results when testing, the order I put the parameters in changed the output. However, the following order will kill the special characters and (so far) creates ASCII strings.

perl zap2xml.pl -d 1 -A -e -E -u [USERNAME] -p [PASSWORD]

where:

-A appends " *" to new shows
-e hex encodes entities (html special characters)
-E handles apm, apos, lt, gt

I used 1 day for testing purposes (thus the -d 1), but changing the parameter position of the -d arg changed the output ... hmmmm.

I got it working by filtering only the channels I want. I don't have any local channels so I must have removed LOOR channels.

I also followed the setup instructions at the top of http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post226662 to set my favorite channels.
