Using latest GBPVR (1.0.16), I was using my Media MVP and tried to go into LiveTV. No response on MVP - it was frozen. So went to my PC and restarted the Recording Service by right-clicking on GB tray icon. Now MVP will not even load its menu. On my PC the 2 instances of MVP server have closed(I have 2 MVP units). The Windows Application log shows several events in the Application log:

6:57:32 - Service stopped successfully (GB-PVR Recording Service)

6:57:35 - Service cannot be started (GB-PVR Recording Service)

As usual, a degree in foreign languages is needed to decipher MS language Smile

You can occasionally get this type of error if you try to restart the recording service but windows is unable to clean up the sockets from their previous use.

Sounds more like Plug-n-PRAY huh? I wish I knew what brought this on, as GB used to run long periods of time (weeks) without problem. Now the Recording Service and/or MVP Server(s) seem to fail frequently. Maybe its tied to power saving, which I recently tried to configure on my PC. Leaving it on 24/7, I plugged my system into a power meter and discovered the typical PC+LCD display uses more energy than a refrigerator - if left on 24/7 and no power saving employed. So I'm trying to be more green, but finding Windows (XP & Vista) still have a lot of bugs to sort out with regards to standby, suspend-to-ram and hibernation Sad

This specific error message isnt your problem, but rather a problem that occurs after trying to restart.

If your MVP is hung, and the power button the MVP remote isnt working, then temporarily remove the power from the MVP. This will at least your recording server is still running, and your recordings will still happen.
