I can't find a forum post or a wiki entry that really provides a step by step on how to map out the channels right! I set mine up but it still records with the normal analog tuner. My question is. I have a PVR-150 and a HVR-1600 tuner in my computer. I have the analog sides of the tuners set up as direct record. The ATSC pard of the 1600 I have set up as a BDA recording source. So when I open GBPVR and look at the tv listings, How do I tell it to use the HD to record a show and not the analog. I guess I'm totally lost.

Help please.

You cant tell it what device to use.

When you schedule a recording it works its way down your capture source list looking for an available capture source which has the requested channel. It'll schedule the recording for the first one it finds.

So there is no way to tell it to use the HD tuner? There should be an option when you schedule the recording for what tuner you want it to be recorded on or something. Lets say I want a show at 7 on channel 9 to be recorded in HD and a show on channel 4 to be recorded at 7 also. It might actually use the HD tuner for the channel 4, even if i want it to record the channel 9 in HD?

What I briefly did, and mind you it didn't work very well, was have a different EPG lineup for my 1600 card then for my 150. Then I would have all of the channels twice, and in GB-PVR's recording selection 4 - KARK was different then 4 - KARKHD. I had to fiddle with it and I had each channel listed twice ( with only 4 call sign letters, which sucked ) in my tv guide. So, I eventually just gave up.

I have one lineup for mine, with the digital side mapped to the appropriate channels.
the digital tuner is the first on the list of tuners in config.
if a show is scheduled to record on a channel available in digital, it will be recorded in digital.
HOWEVER
if the digital tuner is already busy, it will go to the next one on the list.

Sorry, thats just the way it is. As I mentioned, you can use the capture source order to specify your preferred recording device order, but other than that, GB-PVR will decide what device to use. Its unlikely this will change any time soon - the logic has been this way since the project began back in 2004.

Thats cool, I love the program. I just downloaded that Got all media software to just have it record my HD programs and my god that software is crap. Way too many things to set up and nothing works. So kudos to you and whoever helps. I don't know if you know this, but does snapstream or sage tv work the way I want it too or am I just dreaming or something. lol

when you say list what list do you mean, is it in a config file or???? in the capture sources area of the gbpvr setup?

the capture sources tab of the config.exe

when a recording starts, it first tries the tuner at the top of that list.
if that tuner does not have the channel available, or if it is busy, it goes to the next one on the list.

but you cannot try to test the layout by watching LIVE TV.
when watching live, it starts at the bottom of the list.

I have a 1600, and ATSC works like a charm.

What I did is set up 2 schedules in schedulesdirect -- one for OTA/ATSC, and the other for analog cable.

Then -- when you set up your capture sources, only check the OTA channels for the ATSC tuner, and only check the analog channels for the other tuner.

My guide lists all the channels, but the software knows which channels go with which tuner. Works like it ought to. Cool
