Nothing to do with GBPVR.
Is it possible to display some/all channels on a DVB-T mux simultaneously? Preferably with free software. I can seem to view one with tsreader and VLC, but can't seem to understand enough to get more than one stream running.
I have a feeling some of the software from Germany might do this, but my language skills are non-existant.
No absolute need, more a curiostity for an enquiring mind Smile

Martin

p.s. Why does this forum software disable my Firefox spelling checker?

With TSReader you can save an entire mpeg-ts stream that is broadcasting on the same frequency and then you can latter extract partial stream based on the appropriate audio and video id. To receive more than frequency you would need to have multiple tuners.

Another Martin.

So where we have 6 muxs in the UK, TSReader can save one of them. Presumably another piece of code in place of TSReader could extract more than one program channel at the same time. But to extract a program from Mux 1 and another from Mux A would require two tuners...

if i got you right, TSmux recording ain't what you're seeking. you really want to view live tv i.e. like picture-in-picture? or do you want something like show me all the channels from one mux side by side?
post a link for some of the german stuff, i might understand a word or two Big Grin

K.S. you have it right - my wish would be for near realtime display - like PIP but with multiple channels.
I understand TSReader, the pro version along with VLC can do this with the mosaic option, but that's a bit expensive for an experiment. It seems the word for this is 'mosaic' so I will continue my searches.
ProgDVB and DVBviewer were a couple of the German programs I spotted, but have since found out that their free/cheap versions can't do it.

I built a graph to do this once just for fun. I recorded a TS using TSReader and rendered it with Graphedit. The MPEG-2 demux. created multiple AV pins for each PS. I deleted all the individual audio decoders and audio renderers and all but one of the VMR9 filters. I then took 4 of the video output pins of the demux and connected them to the VMR9 renderer. Using properties of the VMR9 filter you can manually set the positions of each video window. I did this to give me a 2x2 tile layout. Playback was real-time for all four video streams.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks for that Brian. I shall use your wise and unintelligible (to me) words as a reason to read some more about how all of this stuff works and is joined together. Even though your first four words filled me with dread "I built a graph" - I draw graphsSmile . Right, graphedit here I come!

sounds like you're halfway through creating a mosaic playback/live-tv plugin for GBPVR? Big Grin

DVB dream will let you add as many channels as PIP as there are on a particular mux/transponder. Works with DVB-C/T/S (I use it with my sat card)

You can also record any of the channels you are watching, or record them all (only issue I found with this is that it names the files using the show name of the "original" program you were watching - just prefixed with chan name.)

Works from the progDVB core I think, and is free, there are some plugins etc.

Many thanks for that JonnyC - that's one I found as .de and was struggling to find out it's capabilities.
