When I am watching a recording, if I press either FF button, occasionally the audio and video freeze. Sometimes the video continues playing and the audio stops. Sometimes the audio and video both skip.

I am using the Cyberlink PowerDVD 6 decoders for both video and audio.

I have also slicked my HD and reinstalled everything, and I had the problem before and now after reinstalling everything.

No logs to go with it, but just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone had any ideas or suggestions.

also thinking maybe power dvd 6.0 decoders do funny things when you fast forward from memory

what video drivers are you using?

i havent tried myself i got so pissed off at how bad the stuff installed that i gave up
probably my fault but it just didnt seem to want to install nicely which is normally an indication of how the actual hardware will work

OK, I don't think I'm using the OmegaDrivers V3.8.413... I rebuilt it on 09/29/07, so I was using whatever the latest version was then. I didn't realize they released new drivers in the meantime.

Are the drivers from 10/01/07 the problematic ones you mentioned?

despite stustunz's painful experiences with his ATI card (I feel your pain), it sounds more like a decoder problem to me as it is the decoder that is responsible for skipping through the file.

Try a different decoders such as mpv.

Do the MPV decoders work for DVDs as well?

I'm not sure tbh but you can select different decoders for dvd playback so testing another mpeg decoder shouldn;t break dvd playback.

I installed the MPV and MPA decoders tonight. I will use them for a couple days and see if they get rid of the freezing/stuttering.
