Comskip build 104 has a bug. Do not use build 104. Build 104 will ALWAYS display the debugwindow, even when called as a hidden process
Do use build 103 or earlier

thanks for the heads-up Erik...

Great piece of software b.t.w. just wanted to mention that, it's one of those pieces of software that may be less 'visible' than GBPVR, but its stable, does the job & thanks to it I have been spared LOTs of propaga^^^^commercials... a real timesaver!

Thanks!

This may sound like a stupid question, but my dictionary file doesn't seem to be getting larger. I saved a backup with a different name and for whatever reason, comskip is not adding to it. Any thoughts? I have cc enabled and it searches to find what I currently have, but is not adding to it. I went back in and manually added some things to help in the detection, but I was fairly certain it was automatic. Thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Comskip can not automatically add to the dictionary as Comskip has no way to know what phrases only appear in commercials.

Well that answers my question then. That could be accomplished by the debug window right... say maybe in later versions. If we manually mark a commercial it could compare the comercial to the entire show...etc. Maybe if 3 or more show the same thing then it gets added to the dictionary file? Just a thought.

Possibly, but ,assuming you are from the USA, where there are strict regulations for commercials, do you have any problem detecting them without the CC?
Do you actually need the CC based scoring?

Thanks a lot, Erik. Your efforts with Comskip are really appreciated. I will switch to 105.

I agree with Lindsay, Comskip is phenomenal, but it typically misses at least one commercial per recording. It's been really weird, if I go back and analyze it- there just isn't a black screen with the volume low enough. I knwo that Tivo's rely heavily on detection b/c my dad's had something go wrong with it and it was missing commercials and they said it had something to do with the CC. Soooo, with that knowledge I thought I could beef the file up a little bit so that it would get everything.

I really would like to ask you to send me the .csv file generated with
output_framearray=1
for such a recording where comskip misses a commercial so I can have a look
Please do include in your mail a list of the frame start and end numbers of where you would like to commercials to been detected
