Hello,

When playing .mkv files I have problems with video pausing for a moment then continuing and issues with repeating sound and sound becoming of sync.

When I play the .mkv files with my zoom player (default player) the files play perfectly. Basiclly I can play .mkv files perfectly everywhere except with gvpvr.

I would greatly appreciate any help offered. I have been working on this for hours without any progress.

Thanks,

Bill

GB-PVR just ask directshow to play the files, which in turn uses the decoders it find on your machine to do the playback. So its mostly likely down to the default directshow decoders used for this type of playback on your machine.

I would think Windows Media Player should play them exactly the same.

GBPVR plays my MKVs perfectly if setup right. I use my HTPC to play back all my MKV files without a hitch.

If you are playing back HD MKVs (720P or higher) then you need a fast CPU and a good video card. Try installing CoreAVC if you can't play them with x264 ffdshow.

I hate to ask this, but could you direct me how I would go about asking directshow to play the files?

Thanks.

You could see the equivalent of what GB-PVR does by downloading graphedit from http://www.videohelp.com/tools/GraphEdit, then selecting the 'renderer media file' menu option, then selecting your file, then hitting play.

It'll show you the decoders directshow picks for playing that type of file.

When I do the above the file play perfectly.
