My recording partition quickly becomes highly fragmented with all of the creating/deleting of large files. How do you all handle disk defragmenting? I am thinking scheduling a job is the easiest way to automate it. Any other ideas? How often do you defragment?

Other than defragmenting regularly there isnt alot of options. It does help greatly if you use a large cluster size when you originally create/format the disk.

Cool. I'll keep that in mind next time I reinstall windows or add a new drive. Thanks!

also put the livetv dir on a different drive, it usually fragments the rest of the drive..so keep it separate from recordings drive.[it doesn't have to be too big]
and both should be separate from windows boot drive letter..

also, the more free space, the less chance of fragmentation..Smile

Or if you're not using an MVP, then using the default live preview mode helps since it record no files while watching live tv.
