Okay, here's the lowdown...

I know my name might not be up there with Zed or Martin123, but I post here from time to time and I frequent the forums religiously and maybe you've noticed my name. However, if you haven't seen me here for some time it's because my computer crashed (bad ram) and school kicked my @$$ for so long I couldn't find time to get it up again.

Now, it was time to resurrect my HTPC from the ground up and reinstall everything. I installed GBPVR, then went about on the chore of installing all of the "extra stuff" that it takes to make it nice (comskip, plugins, etc..). Well, I remember getting PVRX2 to run on my second monitor and I tried to track down the patch that let me do that. I found it and quickly copied the patched files to my GBPVR directory.

Now, PVRX2 refuses to start, though GBPVR will run just fine. I think the problem is (and I didn't notice this until after the fact) that the patched PVRX2.exe was for 1.0.8 and I, of course, have 1.0.16. I wonder... can anyone post their PVRX2.exe for 1.0.16 and maybe I could use that one? If anyone has any better ideas on how to fix this, I will gladly listen!!! And, if you read this far, thanks for putting up with the story!

Yep, thats what I thought by the time I'd read half way through your post above.

If you work your way through the patches in the v1.0.16 survival guide, then I'm sure at least one of these will give you a v1.0.16 compatible PVRX2.exe.

Good luck!

FYI the 7ZIP utility allows opening up a GBPVR MSI file and listing and extracting the files inside. I found this out because I got tired of all the .new files I was making. The only thing you need to do when you extract the file is use a * after the filename since there is some addition info included to allow more than one version of the same file in the installer. If you need more help with the syntax let me know.

Martin

I think you should be able to take your 1.0.16 installer and extract out PVRX2.exe using the 7-zip utility

Thanks, I was able to nab a PVRX2.exe from the sticky page and it works just fine now. The only problem is, I still can't get it to start on my second monitor. Any suggestions? Is there a new patch? Is it integrated in there now, and mine is just acting up?

There is no patch. I think the second monitor needs to be on the right of the first monitor though, which might be your problem?

So he just needs to move his second monitor to be on the right hand side of his primary monitor? Big Grin

Mine works after setting the right option in the config application.

Yep, or at least set that way in the Windows configuration (its always on the right by default in Windows). It doesnt matter physically where it is located.

PVRX2.exe is better when it comes to monitor position, but GBPVR.exe insisted it was on the right.

Well, About a half an hour after I posted that it wouldn't work, I got it to work. It works great, but I was a little confused by how I got it that way!

My second monitor is to the right of my Primary, but I think sub is right. The TV is listed as Monitor #1 even though it is not my primary monitor. I can't figure out any way to rename them, but I don't see any reason to do so. I fixed the problem by telling GBPVR to start on the first monitor (which is my TV). Any ideas on what tells the computer which monitor is which? I know that my TV uses the DVI connector and my monitor uses the VGA connector.
