Hi,

I noticed in the Haup WinTV app that one of the recording options is mpeg2 12kB/sec(cbr) that is supposedly dvd quality. Can GBPVR capture analog from a pvr-150 card at mpeg2 quality? Is it as simple as setting the bitrate of livetv and medium profiles to 12000 cbr?

AFAIK yes you can just edit the profiles that you have set as default - i think i updated mine to like 9000 and i get pretty good quality

Don't you mean 12 Mb/s ? the max bitrate for SD DVD's is 9,8 Mb/s (this includes the audio) this doesn't mean you can't capture a 12 Mb mpeg2 stream, but you can run into problems if you want to burn this to DVD.

As skippy said; just edit the profile

What I am asking really is does GBPVR record MPEG2 or just MPEG?

I'd say it was down to your video card and or it's driver. PVR150 will/can/does record in mpeg2. Something like my nova-t-500 dvb-t card will record what the broadcaster sends.

Looking at some of my recordings from both the PVR150 and Nova-t with Gspot shows them as mpeg-2

Yes, by default GB-PVR always records MPEG-2 file. It never records old MPEG-1 video files unless you go in an tweak certain .ini files.

Thanks all, I appreciate the quick replies. I thought that is what it did but wanted to make sure.
