Thank you for a great solution for media center functionality. GBPVR performs better than Beyond TV or the Wintv application packaged with my tuner. I can recieve more digital channels and the content streams better.

Here are my system specs:

Software: Windows XP sp2, GBPVR 1.1.5, comodo firewall 3, avast antivirus v 4.7, windows defender, avgantispyware v 7.5, cyberlink power dvd, & klite video pack. I am using only the default plugins with GBPVR.

Hardware: intel p4 1.6 ghz, 512 mb ram, ati radeon 9500, happauge wintv hvr 950.

Here are my issues:

during live tv playback, the application crashes and generates an error message stating the application has experienced an error and must close. Recovery requires system reboot. When this happens, the WINTV app that is packaged with the wintvhvr 950 still works even before reboot.

scheduled several recordings, of which only a few successfully completed. of these only one will play back and to play it, i have to access the folder outside of the application and use cyberlink dvd software to play. Windows media center and media player classic won't play the recordings.

when recording playback is attempted, the attempt results in an error message after which, live tv fails to work. recovery requires system reboot.

My logs are attached. Thanks for your help.

I've no idea which of your errors you've tried to reproduce in your errors, so I havnt bothered looking at them. Its better to focus on one thing at a time and separately supply the logs and to tell me what what in the logs you've posted.

When this occurs, what happens when you try to restart GB-PVR and use the device?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your logs and I'll take a look. What audio and video decoder do you have selected in the config app?

Taking your cue, I checked the settings in the config app and found that the audio and video renderers were set to system default. Since the recording seemed to play back ok using the cyberlink software, I changed the settings from system default to cyberlink and found that the recording played in gbpvr and caused no issues in switching back to live tv. I will try some more recordings to see if the recording issues are resolved and will post the results. Thanks for your help. jerry

The recordings I scheduled began recording and I retired for the evening. This morning, as I expected, there was no report of any pending recordings however there was no mention of the finished recordings when I checked the recordings function in GBPVR. I attempted to view live TV but got the message "Error: Cannot connect to the remote machine as the connection is being actively refused."

Per your question, I exited GBPVR & restarted the GBPVR recording service from the task tray. When I launched GBPVR, I found that the recordings I had scheduled last evening were listed in the recordings section but none will play. I then tried viewing live TV which worked. I am attaching the logs. Thanks for your help. Jerry

What was the name of one of these recordings, and what time was it supposed to occur? This will give me somewhere specific to look in the logs.

The logs dont seem to cover that time.

A couple of things to when the next recording fails:
- Was the machine definitely awake at the time of that recording?
- Was the recording service running? Check the task manager to see the GBPVRRecordingService.exe process is listed.

The GBPVRrecordingservice process loads reliably and I see it every time I check the task manager. The system was not asleep when the first recording began.

When I set up the recordings, the Nova recording kicked off right away as the program was just starting. I clicked on Live TV and GBPVR stated that the only available tuner was recording the program and gave me the option to watch the recording as it was recording. I chose the option and I was able to see the broadcast as it was recording. That is when I went to bed.

I did some digging through the logs to see if I could find something in that time range on that day. I too found that nothing seemed to be logged at 2300 which made me wonder if the time stamp was off due to a time zone or something.

Since this last episode of recording problems, I have not recorded anything and have simply watched live tv but even that is producing a problem. Occasionally, during live tv, an error message pops up stating GBPVR has experienced an error and has to close. I sent in a few of these to Microsoft but have since only closed the error. Restarting the recording service in the system tray then restarting GBPVR brings things back to normal. If I had to guess, I probably have a conflict of processes on the system but I'm not sure what to look for to resolve the issue. Thanks for all your help. Jerry

Tonight, I deleted all the attempted recordings previously made and tried a manual recording. It worked. I programmed two recordings for later and will see the results of that when it completes. In my looking around I tried the mux checker which states that I have no mux and that I need sp1. i have sp2. Is this in error? If tonight's scheduled recordings fail, I'll zip all the logs and post them here again. Incidentally, my epg will not update at this time although it has been working. I'm hoping that it is temporary. Any guesses on why this is happening? Thanks for your help. Jerry

SP1 or higher, so SP2 is fine.

No, nothing springs to mind.
