Hi I know you can get Sky on GBPVR, but before I shell out for a card to enable sky on GBPVR I have a couple of questions.

From what I understand you can`t buy a cam to use the sky card (Is this correct), you have to feed the signal to the computer and use a Ir blaster to change the channel. Is the proformance in channel changing any good or is there a delay?
Also in sky the epg is broken down into movies, music, enterainment, kids etc can we do this in GBPVR? so for example I select Kids and it just brings up the kids channels.

Thanks for any advice

Pete

Adding an IR Blaster to control an external set top box effectively adds 1.5 - 2 seconds to the time required to change channels. This delay wont bother you for recording shows, but it might drive you nuts for channel surfing in live tv.

The built in TV Guide cant do this. You might be able to do something like this with the TV Listing plugin.

Thanks sub, not sure the misses would be happy with the delay. Do you know if anyone will be bringing out hardware where we can put the card directly to the pc instead of having to use a set top box

Thanks

Pete

You might be able to use a DVB-S card with multidec plugin's, a phoenix smartcard reader, and your original Sky smartcard to directly view record Sky. This isnt something I test though, so you'd have to research this yourself. You might find discussion on the DVBN forums at http://dvbn.happysat.org/index.php.

I use XGuide (part of XSuite) and it allows you you define several subsets of channels that you can switch between with the yellow/Ctrl-Y button.

satellites.co.uk is another good place to ask; see http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/sa...rd-pc.html
