I searched the forums on this term and found most people are facing the opposite i.e. waking up from sleep. Surely this is a known problem. I thought I cured it by restoring my computer to an earlier date. My computer will hibernate normally after the set time in windows. Recording service is running as normal. However after a recording it will just stay awake again. Something in post processing maybe ? or after an epg update in the night ? It bugs me to no ends seeing the darn thing with power lights on every morning. I really don't want to resort to 'artificial' means such as hibernator etc. Surely this is a common problem with a simple solution? Anyone know of common things GBPVR does after a recording... Any patch out there? Nothing is coming down from the net to keep this thing awake as I turn off the modem.

Was this non-sleeping ever resolved? i.e. I also have the issue in Vista32 of my HTPC not going to sleep. I checked http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vis...ernate.htm which advised looking at the system logs and filtering on Kernel-Power and it points to my new DMB-TH device:

The driver \Driver\LWIRE_SRV for device USB\VID_2040&PID_5000\000DFE4503D5 stopped the power transition.

but TBH the non-sleep issue arose before I ever had that device. I see some people have issues with the PC not sleeping with PVRX2. Is this a known issue or should I start uninstalling programs / disabling services one by one ... this is a beast to troubleshoot, I've been all over trying to find a solution.

I foudn that mine wouldn't go into standby after resuming for xvid conversion, think there is some issue with my xvid, but now that i have stopped conversion it seems to be fine

Mine goes to S3 sleep fine now - for a couple of weeks - then I need to reboot it or it stays awake. After 6 months or so I have to re-image my windows back to how it was.

I think Windows is quite flakey in this area, poorly documented and poorly supported.
I've stopped installing software on my PVR machine now and just leave it alone - it seems much better at sleeping.

good find. this just fixed most of my long standing problems. disabling any wake on lan options in bios is also a good move.

Well removing the USB Stick allows sleep, so that's one thing. The offending file is a service called DMB5000 it seems, the regedit entry that has the entries for the device hardware ID (above) show system32\drivers\dmb5000.sys.

I also get an event called RTC (I'm pretty sure this is disabled in the BIOS) waking up the PC

The system has resumed from sleep.

Sleep Time: 30/06/2008 6:07:13 p.m.
Wake Time: 30/06/2008 6:57:34 p.m.

Wake Source: RTC

I wonder if "Your computer was successfully assigned an address from the network, and it can now connect to other computers." this is what woke it up.
