I have read the wiki for setting up the MVP where it says you need a Hauppauge
TV card - is this so? I am using a Dvico dual fusion HDTV card.

Thanks

No, this is not so, AFAIK. The MVP is just like a headless PC, a Hardware Player than can Play Mpeg1 & Mpeg2 video files (natively). As long as your TV card records in Mpeg1 & Mpeg2, then the MVP can play it. Other formats will need to be transcoded to mpeg2 "on the fly" requiring a fast PC.

Many thanks for that, I have an MVP in a box somewhere so will set it up and give it a go.

In terms of "fast PC" is a desktop Pentium M 1.7Ghz fast enough ? (I know these are supposed to be quick compared to equivalent P4's but never really know what is "fast" - other than the ew core duos and the like :-))

Its certainly fast enough for MPEG1/MPEG2 files on the MVP, and should also be ok playing .avi files that need transcoding to MPEG2 during playback.
