When I try to watch Live TV it just shows a black screen on my TV. No video. Everything else works sort of OK. I have this problem with my onboard (SiS) graphics as well as my NVIDIA GeForce 8500 graphics card. When using SageTV I do not have the issue. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you very much for any help.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

What video decoder do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app? Its recommended you dont leave it set to 'system default' if you have any kind of video problems.

So I was messing around in SageTV (and somehow caused that to stop working too). I closed the program and went to restart my computer but accidently opened GBPVR and sure enough the video playback kind of works. It is displaying in 4:3 instead of stretched 16:9 like I would prefer (even though I told the settings to display 16:9). But ya, after hours of trying to get this fixed it kind of fixed itself. Any idea how to make the video stretch to 16:9? That would be sweet.

Thank you

Also, I have a PVR-500 but I seem to be able to only record one channel. How do I set up the second tuner?

Thanks again!

You can press F7 to toggle between aspect ratios. Most people just leave it on 'auto' all the time, but you need to have the video decoder set to something other than 'system default' for this to work.

You need to have set up two capture sources, one for each tuner on the PVR500. One as device #1, the other as device #2.

Omgosh we are making progress finally. After 30 hours of trying every program/OS around, finally something works. Thank you man. I was just about to scrap the entire project.

So do I just leave this bad boy on 24/7? Can it put it self in sleep mode and wake itself when it needs to record something or I want to watch TV? Also, do you know anything about a DVD ripping plugin? I tried to get a couple to work and couldn't. If you could just point me in the direction of one that works it would be awesome. I'm trying to avoid ever having to do anything in Windows once it's up and running.

Sorry for all the questions but I can't find much info by searching and I don't know anyone who knows anything about this stuff.

Thanks again.

I leave mine on 24x7, but some people have their machine auto hibernate/standby after x minutes of inactivity.

Yes, it'll wake the machine.

I havnt used the DVD ripper in the long time, but this one was fine when I last used it: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/DVDRipper. As mentioned on the page, you need to make sure you have DVDDecrypter installed for it to work.

You can also use Burn DVD X2. It takes longer than a outside program, but if you have comskip on, it will burn the DVD without commercials

I have DVDRipper up and running. I've ripped a couple DVDs. I don't understand how to view them in GBPVR? Thanks for the help
