Take out the HVR-1300, remove all drivers - the machine works fine (no remote and no composite capture but hey...). Put it back - the machine often won't recover from hibernation (blank screen/freeze at the end of the progress bar).

What can I do? Upgrade to Vista? Get a PVR150 (is mpeg capture and the IR hardware any different?)? Try different drivers? (I used the latest) Leave it on 24/7 and melt the North Pole? What? I'm stuck.

i have a hvr-1300 and never had any problems (on asus m2npv-vm m/b) with standby but not really used hibernation...

It recovers OK but I often get the "IR Hardware failed to initialise" error so the remote is useless until a reboot. I've tried the old solution to that from years ago (gbpvrwake.exe and wake.cmd - it throws up an error and gbpvrwake.exe won't run in the background)

What driver are you using for the HVR - I'm on 2.121.25351.0

Try MCE Standby Tool at MST and tell me if it solves.
My MCE remote sometime freezes after a wake-up. Plugging and then plugging the USB devices back makes my MCE again alive.

I've not come across this before. I've installed it, and my HTPC has hibernated and woken up 6 times this evening without a problem. It crashed once, but I moved the mouse just as it was beginning to hibernate so that could have been my fault.

I'll set it up to record several things overnight and hold my breath until morning...

Dfdario, you might have just solved my problem! If you have, I owe you Smile
