If CT TV provides free listings in a similar format/plan to what zap2it used to... why isn't this the popular method?

This free plan lasts for 3 months at a time and gives u listings up to 4 days in the future?
Speaking for myself, 4 days is not nearly enough listings for me and many hard core users. As has been suggested, there are other free routes (xmltv) if you prefer.

Well, this appears to be "easier" to setup than the xmltv routes. Plus it doesn't look like u have to do nething once it is setup besides renewing. I was renewing it every few months with zap2it also.

4 days is okay. I am on my computer everyday so I can check all the time if something is scheduled.

You can still set up a regularly record function and when it shows up in the 4 day guide it'll set it?

It runs in the background to perform recordings at the specified times, update the epg, and to provide the web admin interface if its enabled. The biggest part of the application, the client, is only started if you run the GBPVR.exe or PVRX2.exe user interface.

Thank you Sub. You are a quality member. I think with the use of CT TV listings and just using the web interface while having the recording service running could answer my problems.

Sub, I am a little confused at this CT TV listings plan.

You get CT TV Listings for FREE for 3 months, but only get 4 days of information at a time? It'll keep updating itself up to 4 days at a time... and then after 3 months it has to be renewed?

This is not a plan that only lasts for 4 days, and then after 3 months you get another 4 days right?

That would be my assumption.

If anyone has a BT chipset (older style card) for there tuner card, there is a way to gain into SkyTV, I tried back in the day but it was slow and not better than ok quality.

Another thing you can do is if you have a modified xbox like I do, use XBMC's TV listings xml file. But that's if you prefer to watch TV on your PC not your TV with an xbox running this all if configured correctly. Then some Win Apps can allow an import of this xml file via EPG.

By the way the xbox retrieves it for FREE over a LAN connection out onto the Internet, just make sure you know about LAN vs WAN IP basics and proxy info if you have one already.

A good, free alternative to schedules direct is this scrapper for zap2it
