Hi,

When I use GB-pvr to play pack recording, the color is "washed out" (ie. losing saturation, black displays as gray) However, when I use Windows media player to play back the same file, the color is very accurate.

I know this might be related to decoder. I tried to de-install ffdshow, and GB-PVR cannot play back the video use the default XP mpeg decoder, play a recording just go black. I tried various decoder such as cyberlink (came with ffdshow), dscalar but the results are similar.

Can someone provide some suggestions? I am very frustrated.

Thanks,
Eugene

It can pretty much only be either the video decoder or your video card. If different video decoders dont help, then your videocard might not do a good job with VMR9.

But I thought VRM9 is only used to render GB-PVR menu but not used for video play back? I am using a ATI 9600 card. As I said, if I use other program like WMP, it plays just fine.

Thanks!

I have an ATI 9600 in one of my client machines and it plays perfectly with VMR9 custom (<25% CPU on an Athlon XP 3000). I use the decoder which comes with the Hauppauge capture card (customized Intervideo).

I recently found out that the latest few versions of the ATI drivers messed video on the 9600 (not only video also some games). I have now the version of March 2007 installed which plays video OK.

WMP probably uses overlay. VMR9 is used for video playback too in gbpvr.

Thank you all. I enabled post processing using ffdshow, and turned on overlay in ffdshow. That seems did the trick and it all look good now. Smile
