Hi Sub,

I had QAM working and then it quit. I was looking at it and I see something really strange. When I scan for channels it finds them and i can preview them in the little preview window and they play fine. When I map them then try to play those channels in pvrx2 it says no signal. How can I play them in the preview window but not in pvrx2? Logs don't really show anything. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ram

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Here's the logs. You'll see where I was able to watch some of them in the config preview window but not in pvrx2. One in particular is KETVDT channel 9 in my guide, freq 695950.1 Unknown1 (000(AC3). The haup signal monitor shows all of these at a 31 strength with no errors. I set logging to debug and checked log flushing.

Thanks for having a look!

Looking at the logs I can tell the device hasnt managed to lock onto any signal on that frequency. The card doesnt tell me why though.

I know it's strange but how can it lock on in the config preview but not in pvrx2? I haven't tried the gbpvr binary, maybe it will work there.

Ok so I resigned myself to the fact that it must be a signal quality or strength issue. The cable company's distribution box is in my back yard so I went out there and pulled the cover off of it. I found several very loose connections, including the one that goes to my house. So that was problem number one. I tightened all of them. Problem number two was in the junction box at the back of my house. I had switched to Digital Telephone a while back and they added some hardware. I looked at it and they had replaced my 4 way splitter with 3, yes 3, two way splitters! So that's an instant 10.5 db drop versus 7.5 with the 4 way. I bought a 6 way Monster splitter with supposedly a non-powered "booster" in it. Not sure if that is just snake oil or not, but after replacing the 3 splitters with just one, I am able to watch and record all of the clear QAM channels that I find. My analog reception is much batter as well, most likely due to fixing the loose connection at the distribution box.

Thanks for your patience on this one Sub, I was trying not to bee too much of a pain!

You quoted your Hauppauge Signal Strength Monitor value to be 31 with your old configuration, what do you get now?
