Last night I used Seagate DiskWizard to image my HDD that I had Windows XP & GBPVR installed on and copied the image over to a new larger HDD. Everything remained intact and Windows started as normal as if nothing happened, but when GBPVR was started, it asked for the original MSI file because it needed to re-install itself. I found this quite strange since, like I said, everything else didn't even "notice" I switched to a new drive. Is GBPVR too smart and even knows that it secretly got moved to a different HDD? After downloading the install file and letting it do it's thing everything was fine, I'm just asking out of curiosity.

GBPVR also seems to re-install itself when you update the Enhanced Web Admin... I installed 1.1.5 on Sunday and then copied over the latest EWA (Build 72), and when I entered config, GBPVR reinstalled itself.
It's weird, but doesn't seem to break anything, like you said.

It's the Windows installer that does it. If it finds certain things missing with will do an automagic repair - very spooky when it happens.

heh, I guess it looks at file sizes too then. I can't imagine copying over a new version of EWA into the web folder would delete any files, only update them...

YEP I've had that - very annoying as it doesn't fix anything but tries to reinstall every time.

I got this to happen to me recently too. Only I don't allow it to finish the install process because a couple of times in the past that this happened to me, I let it complete the reinstall and all my recordings went away...

All my recordings went away too, but that was fixed easily enough by importing them.

Happened to me too!
My hard drive where recordings were stored to suddenly disappeared. After a reboot GBPVR reinstalled itself with no reason. After a subsequent reboot the hard drive reappeared but all recordings were missed from GBPVR database. Now I'm trying to restore previous content but it will take ma a long time.
