I use COMSKIP. When watching via playback, whenever the shows skips the commercials and continues to play the show after the just skipped section, the video gets choppy. It stays this way. I have to hit pause, wait a few seconds, and then hit play to fix it.

Note that there is no recording going on and the PC is high powered enough to have no issues on CPU or disk access. It only gets choppy right after the segment of commercials is automatically skipped in play back.

Thoughts?

If you get choppy video after skipping, then its often the quartz.dll problem. There is lots of discussion about this in other threads, so a search should turn up some info for you.

I "proactively" implemented the quartz.dll fix as part of original installation.

Only thing I could do is go back to original file as I did back it up.

Unless a Windows Update ran over the older one?

I dont know - thats the common cause of this behaviour though. You could also try disabling hardware acceleration in your decoder to see if it helps (it has for some users).

The quartz.dll jumpiness I was mentioned could occur after any skip, whether manually intiated or automatic as part of the comskip stuff. It typically doesnt happen on every skip though.

If its not the quartz.dll, it could be down to the audio/video decoder combination you're using, or possibly the audio renderer.

I get the jerkiness after skipping too. Didn't used to but it started a little while ago. I can usually skip forward and back once or twice and then it's fine, but it's annoying and I think my insistence on skipping to get it back right annoys my family even more. Smile

I've twice downgraded my quartz.dll but see that once again it's been updated, presumably by Windows Update. I'll change mine back again and see if the problem is corrected. I'll post back with the results.

Reporting back... that fixed it for me. No jumpiness after skipping now. Wish I'd have posted a question about it months ago when I started noticing the problem. I'm tweaking stuff all the time though and thought I just screwed something up along the way.

That's the 3rd time I've applied the 9.0b quartz.dll fix - twice Windows Update has patched it for me. Annoying.
