EDIT -- IF ANYONE GETS COMPRO VIDEOMATE T220 DVB-T CARD WORKING WITH GB-PVR PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD SAYING HOW YOU GOT IT WORKING PLEASE. MANY THANKS. -- END EDIT

GB-PVR v1.1.5, running on Win XP SP2.

London, UK, Freeview with TV arial, Crystal Palace transmitter selected.

Compro Videomate T220 DVB-T card works with other software (but the bundled software is not very good). Also working with MediaPortal software.

My TV DVB-T card is a Compro Videomate T220 which is 'unsupported' but using the wiki guide and the graph edit utility I constructed my own entry for the bda.ini file. I've appended the entry created to the bottom of this post. In the configuration dialog 'Capture Source' tab, it accepts my entry with no complaints and finds it with 'show only devices connected to this machine'.

My problem is with 'map digital channels to EPG channels'. The scanning process appears to work fine, varying values of Strength/Quality (EG. 145/55, 199/46) but I'd guess that's normal.

At the end of the scan I'm faced with a list of 'Channels found in the scan', all of which are labelled 'unknown' followed by a number between 1 and 4. Here's a screen capture -below- is this normal? The other DVB-T software I've tried gets channel names at the scan stage.

I am unable to even start the channel mapping because the preview window fails to display any video at all. To try and fix this I changed the 'MPV Decoder Filter' in the 'Software MPEG-2 Playback' list box of the 'Playback' tab to 'InterVideo video decoder' and to 'System default', and to 'Nero video decoder' none of which worked - though it just occured to me only with 'Intervideo' did I hit 'ok' and return to the config utility later - so maybe the other settings were never actually registered by the software when attempting to render the preview window.

Unfortunately I now have no idea what my next step should be, and can not find any forum discussion about my Compro Videomate T220 DVB-T card. Please advise me on what steps I should now take.

Many thanks, regards, etc..

My custom made Compro Videomate T220 bda.ini file entry:

[Compro Videomate T220]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=VideoMate DVB-T DVBT Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=VideoMate DVB-T Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Following up my first post...

This morning I re-scanned the channels and had partial success; the scan found BBC1, BBC2, BBC News 24, and BBC CBBC - however in the list box of channels found it populated the entire list with these channels repeated all the way down. See this screen capture:

[Image: chan_map2_df1ed8672c877a339eb58623475a6d6e.jpg]

Taking some encouragement from this, I hit re-scan. Unfortunately at the end of this scan all the channels found were 'unknown' again just like before as seen in the screen capture in my earlier post.

I feel like all I need is a small configuration change somewhere, but just can't work out what it might be. GB-PVR Gurus - please advise.

Thanks.

PS. Just to re-mention this - the card is working fine, I can view and record TV with Compro's bundled (and v. poor) software.

Go to the gbpvr\BDA folder and delete any scan .cache files. Then re-scan and zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log files from the gbpvr\Logs folder.

Cheers,

Thanks Brian. As requested I deleted those cache files, re-scanned, and have attached a zip of the log files specified.

Many thanks and regards, etc..

On the surface, it looks like the first tuning request for MUX 1 (which carries the BBC channels), is being accepted but that subsequent tuning requests aren't. The result is that MUX1 is being scanned repeatedly which is why you're seeing multiple instances of the same channel.

On the other hand, there are entries in the -native.log file which suggest the subsequent tuning requests ARE succeeding...
Code:
2008-02-19 13:20:51.968    VERBOSE    SubmitTuningRequest(T:C25,505834,0,0,8)

2008-02-19 13:20:52.250    VERBOSE    Getting current tuning request...
2008-02-19 13:20:52.750    VERBOSE    Current CarrierFrequency=505834

2008-02-19 13:21:09.750    VERBOSE    SubmitTuningRequest(T:C22,481834,0,0,8)

2008-02-19 13:21:10.031    VERBOSE    Getting current tuning request...
2008-02-19 13:21:10.531    VERBOSE    Current CarrierFrequency=481834
Sorry, I don't have an answer to this. I think it's over to sub to provide an answer to this one.

bgowland - many thanks for having a look, v. kind of you.

2 questions:

Who is sub?

Do you think it worth uninstalling and then reinstalling?

Cheers.

sub's the author of GB-PVR so obviously understands more about what's happening behind the scenes.

It looks like something screwy going on with your device. Its ignoring these tuning requests and staying on the previous channel it was tuned to. Sorry, there is no magic GB-PVR setting that'll fix this. I'd look for a different version of drivers for this device, then try those to see if it improves things.

Thanks for looking into this sub. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling GB-PVR from scratch but just got the same 'unknown' list of channels. I'll see if there's some alternate drivers for my Compro Videomate T220 card. If I find some drivers that work I'll post them in this thread for other users.

Cheers.
