Is anyone using the Hauppauge Media Center Remote with GB-PVR rather than the standard Hauppauge version? Does it work OK "out of the box" or is some remapping needed? I'm trying to decide whether to buy a standard 1600-HVR capture card versus the MCE version. The MCE version has a radio tuner, but the MCE remote may not work so well with GB-PVR.

Regards to all,
Mark.

Hi, from my experience the Hauppauge remote has always seemed to work better with GBPVR than the MCE one that they supply with some of the MCE edition cards. I still prefer the MCE remote though as it 'feels' and looks better in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know whether the two are pretty well identical from a buttons point-of-view? In what way does the Hauppauge remote work better?

Mark.

I could be wrong because I haven't tried it lately but I think some of the buttons on the MCE remote aren't mapped ie the 4 colour buttons but I'll double check when I get the chance to make sure it's still the same.

Cheers

Also, I believe the Hauppauge MCE remote only works natively under Vista MCE. Actually, more accurately the USB IR receiver unit.

To get it working under XP, requires some driver hacking.
Cheers

Thanks, I decided to play safe and ordered the Hauppauge Win-TV version. Don't think I will ever want to run Media Center on this PC.

Mark,
