Hi altogether,
yesterday I started to setup my new HTPC with the recent GBPVR.
I´m very happy with it as I had not the expected amount of problems and I managed to have it running yesterday at 8pm.

But some minor questions :

1) Channel switching in LiveTV
I use a PVR350 and the channel switching in LiveTV needs several seconds. Thats no problem and caused by the delay of the PVR during creation of the MPEG stream.
* Can there be displayed something on screen to indicate that the channel is switched ?
* Sometimes I press an arrow key multiple times and then I´m back in the main menu...

2) Skinning
Is it possible to create submenues and if yes, how ?

3) Database stuff - delete of non present channels
I added some channels by hand.
I deleted the recording sources where I added these channels, but in the main channel list (channels tab in the config utility) these channels still are present.
* How can I delete these channels from mdb ?

In teh beginning I had an EPG with a lot of channels that I canno t receive.
These channels are also still present in the main channels list although I deleted the capture sources of these channels.
* How can I delete these channels from mdb ?

* Can some kind of garbage collection be made in the mdb ?

4) EPG clear
Although if I press the "Empty EPG" Button in the Capture Source Setup the EPG is still present.....

* How can I clear it ?

5) Renaming of manually added channels or Capture Source names
If I add a Capture Source or a channel I cannot change the name of it afterwards.
* Where is my mistake ?

Thanks for an hints or help.

Regards
Sven

One addition :

I use a XMLTV datasource for EPG

Is there a way to search for actors or keywords in the EPG to schedule recordings or create a suggestion list ?
Is such a feature planned for future versions ?

Can anyone help me in implementing an onscreen keyboard ?

In the FindFast plugina very nice one is implemented but how can I use it for other tasks e.g. the filename of manual recordings ?

Is there an easy way ?

I'm doing the best I can. It'll improve over time.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]2) Skinning

Yes, you can create sub menus using 'drag and drop' on the plugins screen of the config app.

Usually if you remove a capture source, it removes all the channels associated with that capture source. I dont know why this didn't work for you. You could try removing the records from CHANNEL table in the mdb.

As I said, the channels are normally removed when you remove the capture source. I dont know why this didn't work for you.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]* Can some kind of garbage collection be made in the mdb ?
It does remove old listings after a day or so.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]4) EPG clear

This only removes the programmes not the channels. As I said earlier - usually if you remove a capture source, it removes all the channels and programmes associated with that capture source.

You cant rename a channel.

No. I dont like to provide features that rely on data that is not always present. Very few XMLTV grabbers provide lists of actors, so I have no intention to do this. I may add a feature to schedule by keyword in the future.

Hey sub,
First of all thanks for your fast reply.

I wrote in between :

Sounds good.
It´s not a problem but a bit annoying.

I´ll give it a try.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]You cant rename a channel.
Can I rename it manually in the mdb ?
Or delete it there anr recreate it ?

This would be a good thing.

After the first steps with GBPVR I must say that its the best PVR solution I had up to now.

Go ahead ;-)

I had a hard time finding this in the forum even though I knew I had read about it. Check out this link. The problem is that *it* has a link which points to the void. Anyone know where that thread has gone? =)

Edit: I found the missing thread: automatic phrase record

Hi Stefan,
thanks for the link.
I already saw it and had a look on it.

What I do not know is in which EPG the tool searches.

In the EPG that is imported into the mdb or in the original one.

If its the mdb-EPG there might be a problem with the length limitation of some text fields in the mdb.

But I will have a look this evening into the mdb´s EPG which data is imported and if the search can produce good results.

You do that. I have not tried it at all, so I can't answer any questions about it.
