Installed on Vista 1.2.9 and received the Error 1721 but as I killed the process so no backup. GBPVR operational but have problem getting into TV Guide. It hangs and I need to kill it. I have run config and updated the EPG. Have also run "c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\PVRX2.exe" -OnlyUpdateEP without problems. Still hanging sop I looked at logs and can see a number of Divide by zero errors. Just wondering if you can look at logs.

Much appreciated

I'm not sure. Its hard to predict the state of things after a botched install. I'd probably recommend an uninstall, delete gbpvr directory, then reinstall.

I did actually do this already. First attempt at an upgrade failed with the Error 1721 so I ran msi again and removed product. Then I deleted the GBRVR directory and ran again. This time I ran into the same Error 1721 and followed a post that said they had this problem but just killed the install to stop rollback.

Thanks for looking

I have had the exactly same course of events. Both with the upgrade / installation and the error in TV-Guide (Unexpected error: System.DivideByZeroException: Attempted to divide by zero)
Intel Pentium M, 1730 MHz

Same thing for me too - full details of what I did here. I've tried various things, including a reinstall/uninstall of the earlier release, but I just don't seem to be able to get an installation that doesn't include Error 1721.

Not convinced this sheds an awful lot more light on this, but the relevant descriptions from the event log for the "MsiInstaller" are:

Error:
Product: GB-PVR -- Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: Action, location: C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Config.exe, command:

..followed by:

Information:
Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: GB-PVR. Product Version: 1.2.9. Product Language: 1033. Installation success or error status: 1603.

Others (non-gbpvr related) who have gotten the 1721 error, seems to be able to resolve that by using the msi installer clean up utility:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Seems to be related to the fact that some part of the old version of the installation package is still left on the computer somehow. Might be worth a shot.

Now that makes sense. I've had the error too. I thought that nit helped to unistall, delete directory, and RESTART computer. But this makes more sense

Haven't had the problem myself, so I can't test. Hope it works for someone.

Didn't work for me, I'm afraid. The utility lists programmes installed by the Windows Installer - after a (dodgy) install with the 1721 Error, GB-PVR is listed there. If you uninstall it, it isn't though, suggesting that the uninstall has done it's job. If you run the clean-up utility on it without an uninstall, then you can't uninstall it (unsurprisingly).

Anyway...I tried installs and uninstalls of 1.2.9 and 1.1.5. In both cases, after uninstall, the clean-up utility doesn't mention them, but I used it on each of them when they were installed and then re-installed them. Everything installs fine with 1.1.5, but not with 1.2.9, where the 1721 Error pops up. I also tried uninstalling the VC5 runtime deliverable, but no change.

Sad

It was worth a shot, though.
