First a bit of history. I have been using DirecTivo for ages now, have a slightly modified version that is networked. I have also used MCE for a few months, then tried MythTV and finally settled on MediaPortal and used it for about a year for just movies, music and pictures. I still cant get MP to use my TV Tuner card so I came over here to check out GBPVR. I have 2 500gb drives raided almost full of videos and a 250gb drive about 1/2 full of music. All of our files are sorted hierarchically so I like file browser views in gbpvr.

Having slunk around the forums for a few days, tried every epg grabber there is and a half a dozen or so other plugins, I am quite impressed overall and left with just a few questions.

On to my questions:
For Music
1. If I chose a m3u playlist it doesn't show the items in the list.
2. Also once playing there is no pause button.

For videos
3. I can't find a suitable Vidoes capability that matches MP. Let me explain what MP does. MP's default view is file browser view (Just like Video Library). Perfect! If I highlight a movie and press the "info" button on my remote it pops up a menu of 5 options (delete, ..., ..., IMDB) if I select IMDB I get a screen that shows all the imdb info. If there is none, it searches IMDB and presents me with a list of possible matches, once I select the one I want it dl's all the information. I've looked at Movie Wizard and it's really nice, but there is no file/directory view, only sorts by genres. Is there a plugin that will do this, or any ideas on how to do this?

TV.
4. I just cant seem to understand the inter dependencies of the channels. Under Capture Sources I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 and the two tuners are listed, but the same channels show up under analog and digital (ATSC under analog, and analog under ATSC, and now I also have a whole 2nd and 3rd set of channels that appeared after I imported the guide). This seems to be the most difficult part of gbpvr. BTW, I believe it's even worse in MP, but MCE makes this a snap. I dont know if it is possible to make this part easier or not, but it's still smacking me around.

5. In using the MceEpg tool, after updating the EPG I have all kinds of duplicate chanells, and no show data. Is there something off in the xml file? I wasn't sure whether this was a MceEpg tool problem or gbpvr problem so that's why I posted it here. Here is one channel description
Code:
<channel id="28455222.KWGN.2">
    <display-name>KWGN</display-name>
    <display-name>2</display-name>
    <display-name>KWGN</display-name>
    <display-name>CW Affiliate</display-name>
  </channel>

GB-PVR Config Bug
Start Config, click on plugins tab, click on a checkbox next to any plugin and it doesn't do anything. You have to click on the text label first and then the checkbox.

I know this is a lengthy message. In the future I can certainly break up my posts into individual questions if that is the general preference of the group here.

That channel description looked file. Are you using one xmltv file for each capture source or just one file with all channels?

Start Config, click on plugins tab, click on a checkbox next to any plugin and it doesn't do anything. You have to click on the text label first and then the checkbox.
That's intended behavior I believe. You have to select before enabling/disabling.

The checkbox / tree view is really no big deal, it just didn't seem to be expected behaviour. Normally the default bahviour of tree controls is that a click on the checkbox checks/unchecks the box and a click on the label selects the row (ie to click on the settings button).

I've seen a few home brewed controls that require 2 clicks and I've never worked with .net controls so maybe the behaviour is different for stock .net controls.

It was really the most minor part of the issues I'm having Smile

Believe me, I'd love it to be behave the way you describe. It seems to be the standard behaviour for this treeview control. It needs that first click to give the control focus before it'll work. I couldnt see any easy way around when I last looked into it. In the grand scheme of things it wasnt that important, so I decided to move on with my life.

sub...is it a standard .net treeview? Or a custom control. If I can get my hands on the control, I *might* be able to find a work around.

sub doesn't release his code. Most third party plugins/utilities are open source but the main app is closed source. If you figure out a way to do it on a generic tree view, he may implement it though.

Question for sub (apologies for derailing the thread slightly):
Is there a reason you use a tree view instead of a checked listbox? I'm just wondering if there are any instances where it's better to use a tree view orif it was strictly a preference thing. You know... the whole still learning because I'm self taught issue...

Its because it needs to represent a tree structure. It needs to cope with nested directories, with the ability to drag and drop items to different locations. (see the Add button below the tree)

Its just the standard .net treeview, but I send it a windows message to tell it to show checkboxes when the control is first created.
