I have tried the install once and got a couple of errors, though that maybe me getting used to a new system.

It should run fine. Whether or not you have access to tuners is dependent on the virtual machine though.

Sorry I should have made myself clear. This machine is only a client. I'm afraid it's been a long week what with computer meltdowns!

So anyway I just managed to install .net 2.0 and gbpvr latest version no problems, went to config and set my paths to the server, all ok. tried to fire up PVRX2 and got a .NET Framework unhandled exception. Followed by PVRX2 window showing up white with a red cross.

nothing obvious in event viewer.

interesting snippet in PVRX2.exe-native..or maybe not

2008-03-28 21:24:12.171 ERROR hr failed
Error code : 8876086A
D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE
Not available

logs attached.

When using PVRX2 the D3D error is obvious. VMware does not support 3d acceleration which PVRX2 uses. GBPVR.exe works in a virtual machine though.

ok that makes sense, I tried and yes you are quite correct, I can get gbpvr.exe to work.

Is there any virtualization software that will run PVRX2.exe or am I asking too much?

Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac: http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop/
It's supposed to support DirectX and OpenGL (not used by GBPVR).

thanks for that, I'll check it out.

Anyone else tried PVRX2 with Parallels?

I tried a of trial of Parallels with PVRX2, and it still wouldnt work.

I then found out that vmware has an option for 3D graphics acceleration, and lo and behold i can get PVRX2 to load...initial load toime is a little slow, but after that menus are quite snappy.

My next problem is when I try to play a recorded video file, I hear audio, but no video.

WMP will play the files with no problem. I have tried all available video decoders to no avail...

I have also tried the client setup as share or streaming.

I have attached the logs from my last effort (sharing this time - same as WMP)

Any ideas?

Thanks for all the help so far, and i can't believe i've got this far....so let me know if you guys think I'm flogging a dead horse here :p
