Trying to play the sample DVB-T broadcasts files from NZ.

Have the latest version of gbpvr, the latest (beta) version of the Monogram AAC LATM codec and PDVD7 Ultra with the Cyberlink H.264 codec.

In the config.xml file have

<PreferredAACAudioDecoder>MONOGRAM AAC Decoder</PreferredAACAudioDecoder>

and

<UseBuiltInTSReader>true</UseBuiltInTSReader>

and also the dll patch for .ts files.

Scenario 1. No Haali Splitter installed

WMP crashes playing any of these video files which perhaps is not surprising since there is filter no for .ts files. gbpvr also crashes

Scenario 2. Haapli Filter installed. WMP plays these files but with no audio (not surprising I guess) but also with very pixelated coloured images - can make it out some of the images. This is because I guess there is no accelerated video card present.

When the video is selected in gbpvr , it just returns to the list of videos with no error messages. The attached logs don't show anything strange apart from one crash but all files fail to play.

Not sure what else to do.

Thanks

Its not immediately obvious to me whats wrong from the logs. I'd try this as a next step: download GraphEdit, then from the 'insert filters' menu option, expand the directshow category and add the MPEG-2 Demultiplexer and GB-PVR TS Reader filters. When prompted for a file name, select your .ts file. Drag the output pin of the 'GB-PVR TS Reader' to the input pin of the 'MPEG-2 Demultiplexer'. This should cause some output pins to get created on the 'MPEG-2 Demultiplexer' filter. Does it? What are the pin names.

From the look of your logs this isnt happening, but manually checking it is probably the best thing. I've got something you can try if its not creating the pins.

Hi sub

Nothing happened in that there were no output pins created on the MPEG-2 Demultiplexer filter. I tried .ts files and also .mpg and nothing

Thanks

Can you tell me if the attached patch helps? If not I might need you to supply me a small .ts recording generated on your machine.

No luck. Same result - press Enter on a video title, asks if I want to resume since I had tried to play these before, click restart and it returns to the file list.

Nothing obvious in the logs I can see.

BTW I don't have a DVB-T card in the system but I wouldn't have thought that would have mattered. Just trying to play the sample files uploaded at GZ which you can access also. I tried Sevens, Neighbours and Batman.

Interestingly with the Haali Splitter installed WMP can play these, but with no sound of course and with highly pixelated video.

I have the internal tsreader turned on in config.xml

Also when converted to a MPEG-2 Transport Stream using Tsremuxer gbpvr also plays them but again with the highly pixelated video

Thanks

Just one other point. Do you need either Haali Splitter or HDTV Pump installed to play this content?

Update

Turned off <UseBuiltInTSReader> (made it false)

Now gbpvr can play the video files but with the same pixellation as noted with wmp (video card problem I guess). But no sound from any of the files. Am I recalling correctly that the Haali Splitter does not work with the Monogram codec? And I can't seem to use HDTV Pump (causes wmp to crash)

Thanks

After breakfast I'll upload a clip I recorded, that way can both compare the behaviour with the same file.

Try downloading this one minute recording from TV One: http://www.gbpvr.com/short-tvone.zip

When I do the GraphEdit steps above, it automatically creates two pins on the demux. 'AAC' and 'Video'. What do you get with this same file?

Hi Sub

I get two pins but they are labelled Audio and Video (not AAC and Video). TO provide further information

1. Need to have Haali Splitter installed? (I do)
2. Should the config.xml have UseBuiltInTSReader>true</UseBuiltInTSReader> false (But I suspect it should not make a difference if I am using graphedit). I tried it with both and get the same labels

Looks like perhaps I don't have a AAC filter installed but am pretty sure I loaded the Monogram filter and it shows up in Graphedit as a DirectShow filter.

NOw I don't have an accelerated video card (yet) so I would not expect smooth playback. But what I get instead is highly pixelated video with lots of colour and you can sort of make out images in it. There is no sound which is not unexpected based on the graphedit results

Does that help?

If I don't have the Haali Splitter installed then WMP crashes trying to play these files

Update - removed the Haali Splitter - the sample you uploaded plays still (as above) but the other samples out there (Batman, Beyonce) either crash gbpvr or start and stop. Don't care about them if I can play the DVB-T broadcasts okay

Thats good.

Quote:1. Need to have Haali Splitter installed? (I do)
No, you dont need the Haali Splitter installed. I only advised that to fix audio sync problem you had with playing regular MPEG2 .ts files (from TelstraClear). This wont help you with the H.264/AAC DVB-T files, since the Haali Splitter doesnt understand AAC-LATM audio.

If you have it set to false, then it'll try to use the system default filters for .ts files (ie, Haali Splitter). This will mean no audio.

If you have it set to 'true' then it'll use the GB-PVR built-in TS Reader. This does understand AAC LATM, and will give you audio (with monogram decoder installed), but does have an audio/video sync issue. I'm still looking into this.

If you add the monogram aac decoder to that GraphEdit graph, you should be able to connect it to the audio pin. Does this work?
