Hey all,
I have been playing with my system for a few months and thought I would ask a few questions. When watching live tv, the only channels that do not stutter are the public television channels which are according to antennaweb.org 6.3 miles from my house, the others channels are 7.8, 14.8 and 22 miles. There are time that the some channels are coming in better but for the most part they stutter. I built one of those coat hanger antennas found on youtube. Should that antenna be good enough? Right now it is just sitting behind the entertainment center on the floor, do I need to get it up off of the floor?

Another question I have is the audio that I am using is onboard Soundmax ADI 1980 6-channel, should this be good enough for the system or is this part of the problem? The specs are in my signature. Right now, I cannot connect to the internet with the PVR, I need to find my drill bit to put a hole in the floor and run the dsl cable to the router, then I can attach the log files.

I know from reading that codecs play a huge part in getting the playback to work correctly, so if that is the issue then I will have to figure out what ones I need and what ones I need to get rid of.

Thanks,
Matt B.

It might be worth checking with other software like WinTV etc.

I tried WinTv and got the same stuttering plus WinTv did not pick up one of the stations that GBPVR did. I really like GBPVR and I am determined to get it to work.

Something came to me while laying in bed, I got the hardrive out of a computer that my neighbor gave me. The drive had XP installed on it and since he gave me the install disk, I just put the drive into my computer and installed the drivers for my board. I am thinking that because I did not do a clean install, the computer may still be trying to see things from the other system. Could I just go into the system properties and remove items like the audio sections, restart XP and reinstall the drivers that way?

I tired to think of trying everything before posting a question, and trying WinTv as the hard drive from another computer just slipped my mind, sorry.

Thanks,
Matt B.

Based on the description of your problem, and your antenna, and that its also a problem in WinTV, then it sounds like a signal problem to me.

I really do appreciate the very quick responses. I will first try to get the antenna up off of the floor and go from there.

Thanks again,
Matt B.

I hung the antenna on a differnet wall and put it six feet up and that seems to help a bunch, I may have to look into a really good HD antenna or amplfier for the one I have.

One other question, I thought that since I have two tuners, I would need two hard drives to record two shows at once. I see in config where I can name one hard drive for recording, but how do I let GBPVR that I am using 2 hard drives?

THanks,
Matt B.

No, you dont need two hard drives for two tuners. Infact, GB-PVR only supports a single recording directory.
