I have a 2nd XP user that my kids use to watch recordings with some restrictions so that they don't mess with my windows setup. The 2nd account is part of the Administrators group so has full rights to the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory. It just can't access managment tools and control panel.

Everything works except that they can't resume shows becuase of the ReadOnly database error below. pvrx2 logs attached.

Does anyone know what windows permissions need to be set to access the database?

Set <LogSQL>true</LogSQL> in config.xml, then reboot & reproduce the problem, then zip and attach a complete set of logs and I'll take a look.

I would have thought that just adding write permission to the gbpvr.db3 file for that user would have been enough. (with regular backups because they can then delete show data!).

You're probably right, but I'm unsure why it would be read only. I was curious if it would clear itself after a reboot or whether it'd still be read only.

Overlapping posts, I defer to yourself sub Wink
I recall something like this in the dim and distant past where a user was part of the admin group, but that once I played with their permissions elsewhere, it upset things in unexpected places.

Can the OP check what permissions the user has on that file and directory and make sure 'write' is enabled. I'd then try outside of gbpvr to see what XP lets that user do to the file (or a copy of it!). Presumably they can't set up or delete recordings either??

Fixed my problem after some trial and error.

For some reason being a member of Administrators group isn't enough because of the restrictions. I had to explicitly set allow permissions for this 2nd user on the entire gbpvr directory! I originally had explicitly set full permissions on the gbpvr.db3 database file which wasn't enough.

What threw me off was that this 2nd user was somehow able to read/write files in the gbpvr\logs but not the gbpvr directory itself.
