I'm having a sporadic problem with my VBoxx Communications Cat's Eye 164e dual hybrid tuner card and GBPVR. It appears that the tuner card sometimes fails to initialize with the following error:

2008-04-15 19:56:02.468 ERROR Failed to start BDA Graph+
2008-04-15 19:56:02.468 VERBOSE ERROR_SEM_TIMEOUT

The end result is the typical 6kB file size recordings. In this case, the retry also failed so both the main file and the -1 file are 6kB.

I've uploaded a .zip folder with the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log file.

What does the SEM_TIMEOUT mean, and is there a way to increase the SEM_TIMEOUT setting?

This might be a resume from suspend issue with the system waking to record. Is there a way to control the system wake time before a recording starts?

Thanks for your assistance. Searching the forums didn't reveal this particular error before.

Its not a GB-PVR error, but rather the driver returning an error. Going by the name of the error, it sounds like the driver is timing out waiting for a semaphore, ie one part of the driver is waiting to be given a "go ahead" indication by another part of the driver, but it never comes and it eventually times out..

Whatever timeout it is something internal to the driver, so not something GB-PVR has a setting for.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll contact VBOX Communications about the SEM_TIMEOUT error.

How about control over the wake time padding?

It always asks the machine to start a minute before the pre-padding for the recording was due to kick in.
