I recently built a new HTPC using an Antec Veris Fusion case, equipped with the iMON 2x16 VFD display and IR reciever. I have a hauppauge PVR 150 capture card with the hauppauge remote (not the MCE remote as far as I can tell. . .) My question is: Is there a way to get the hauppauge remote working with the iMON's IR receiver, or am I stuck with using the receiver module that physically plugs into the capture card? I would like to utilize the iMON if possible, simply because it is integrated into the case, whereas the hauppauge cabling is not.

Sorry if this is a redundant post, I've searched through the forums and didn't find anything immediately applicable, but I still could have missed something

I believe it is possible using third party software like HIP or others, i have seen posts relating to this, and you should find quite a few people able to help you through the tricky setup.

I have this case, and the same remote, but was having endless issues with the IR reciever screwing up the VFD display. in the end it got a bit of tin foil over it because i couldnt find a relaible way to disable this in the software.
Id be interested to know if you have any of the same issues? I had heard that cases with the faulty modules could be returned, but dont want to have to pay the shipping fees on something so bulky and have to rebuild my otherwise faultless pc again!

Worst case scenario though is that you could fit the Haup reciever in the same space as the built in one if you had to, and route the cable through the case and into the back of the 150.

i have the imon receiver never bothered to do what you want although i can understand your reason

you could try a program like HIP to see if it will communicate with the imon ir receiver then learn the codes from the remote

i was to slowSmile

but i second what stu8080 said

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I toyed with using the iMON IR reciever with the Hauppauge remote for a couple of days, and couldnt' get it to work. I tried using HIP, but I don't think that HIP works with the iMON reciever. Anyone else tried it?

On a side note, I tried to hook the Hauppauge IR Reciever back up, so I'll at least have a remote control to use. However, the cable had snapped since I last used it, and now I cant' find the IR reciever portion of the cable! So I'm stuck with the iMON reciever, or buying a new remote control. So if no one has any idea how to use the Hauppauge remote with the iMON reciever, maybe you guys can at least give me some suggestions as to which remote control I should buy? Smile

Thanks!

i use mce remotes they come with a 2 ir senders aswell
they are cheap they work natively with gbovr and they work well with hip
so basically they work well with a pc

the imon receiver is just going to be a pain you could buy a harmony remote but that would cost more than the mce remote and honestly not worth the extra money unless you have 5 other things to control
my htpc(gbpvr) does everything i have no need for it to control anything else(mce remote is all i need)

Try EvenGhost as well. Pick the iMon driver and then press keys on your Hauppauge remote. If it works, cool. If not, nothing lost except some time, EG is free too.

Hey gazoo, I am in the same boat as the OP. I downloaded EventGhost, but see no driver for iMon. In fact it appears there is a specific post in the EventGhost forum where a driver for iMon is requested but the developer says there are no plans because he does not have access to one. Do you know if there is one for sure?

I maybe be wrong..I think I have a different display than imon. The one I have also emulates or is compatible with Lirc so I chose Lirc as the driver and it worked. You could try that.

However, I thought people were using EG with iMon..hmmm. Maybe I have an older version or something. I can't check right now because I'm at work and it's powered down at home.

turajb Wrote:Try IR Server Suite for blasting & the IMON app for receiving, it workes for me. As I use a IMON Inside receiver & a Hauppaug MCE Blaster together, and they work well. Just make sure you use the most current IMON Median app & the newest alpha version of IR Server Suite. I only make this comment, as the newer IMON Median works very smoothly and the alpha IR Server Suite has better IR blaster/receiver support for IMON products.

I may not be explaining this very well, and I am very new to this so forgive me. I have the 45 button silver Hauppauge remote that came with their PVR 150 and I am not sure that is actually considered an "MCE" remote. I am not sure to be honest and there may be no difference.

At this point I am not even trying to control any applications. I would just like some way to determine if the IR Receiver in the IMON included with the Antec Fusion is receiving any sort of signal from the remote.

I have downloaded both EventGhost and IR Server Suite and don't seem to be making any progress.

Any basic suggestions to simply confirm communication between the remote and receiver would be greatly appreciated.

Should I just break down and purchase an official "MCE" remote or maybe one of the Harmony's? Would appreciate anyone chiming in on what remotes they are currently using with their Fusion.
