Screen settings for PCH/GBPVR use

Martin,

I am confused about what settings to adjust in order to acheive the best possible picture and avoid the overscan problem I have (which only appears in plugins, not in the PVRX2 main menu)

TV: Samsung LCD32" 1360x768

PCH: Set to 720p mode using the PCH command, connected to TV with HDMI

MVP Settings:

<MVPWidth>1280</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>720</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>0</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>

I have looked at these threads but am still not sure how I should work the settings.

I have seen that in the upcoming PCH firmware they are adding support for 1360x768. How will that affect my settings.

Let me know if I need to provide logs or pictures of my overscan problem.

I've said in a couple of post to not confuse the resolution of the monitor with the -m setting on mvpmcx2. The PCH will use the appropriate setting for your monitor whatever you set the GBPVR to look at. In fact the PCH only has two resolution.

Have your tried to use the MVPPosition plugin to help out with your settings? It does make determining the values easier.

Also for those that follow these threads I believe part of the problem is that Syabas design guides say to only display information in a 1100x656 window inside the 1280x720 screen. I believe some skins use more than use which is why you need to use the offsets.

I will try the plugin but I still dont understand the relation between picture mode (i.e., 720p), screen resolution and how it works together with GBPVR (MVPMCX2) :confused:

Fair enough. However, I tried the MVPpositionplugin but with no improvement. The weird thing is that GBPVR main menu and the actual file played does not have any overscan problem whereas all plugins (gbpvr standard plugins using blue skin) are streatching outside the monitors bounderys.

Sorry I don't know enough to help you anymore, other than my earlier comments about the skin maybe not respecting Syabas recommendations for overscan areas. If GBPVR is working and you can get the MVPPosition rectangle aligned nicely, I think the mvpmcx2 client side is set up the best it can be. You probably need some screen shots and GBPVR logs to help sub out.
