Forgive me if this question has come up before - i have had a look and cannot see anything resembling my problem.
NZ digital channels work fine - TV1, TV2, TV3, but on changing to or from TV3 the picture locks up and I have to stop PVRX2 using task manager or sometimes just reboot the computer.
The frereview1 HD channel gives startling pic and sound but runs for a minute or so then just locks. (I believe this is the same problem happening)

Using latest pvrx2 clean install Win xp sp3 all updated.
HVR 4000 card with good signal. Core Avc h.264 decoder (H264-ATI as default but neither changes this).

There are known problems with the CoreAvc decoder which makes it a poor choice for using with out DVB-T channels. The most significant problem is that it doesnt like the stream characteristics changing mid stream (for example, changing from progressive 720p TV1/TV2 to interlaced 1080i TV3 etc). I've contected the author about these problems and they've indicated they are aware of the issues and hope to fix them in a future release.

For now you'd be much better off trying the Cyberlink H.264 decoder.

The CoreAvc decoder is good for playback H.264 files where the characteristics are the same from beginning to end, giving nice low CPU usage, so hopefully they'll fix the decoder to handle dynamic changes in the future.

No, I dont know then. I dont have any problems with the Cyberlink decoder switching between these channels.

Are you sure the Cyberlink decoder is being used? If you reproduce the problem then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe-native.log then I'll check what decoders are being used on your machine.

No I cant be sure it is being used - I cannot select it (although installed) I have been assuming that it is the Default although i dont know how to check it. Another thought - it may have expired - not sure how long it lasts as a trial. Here are logs and in the meantime i will buy fresh copy of cyberlink program

You'll need to post the pvrx2.exe-native.log.

Yeah, as I suspect, its definitely still using the CoreAVC decoder.

What version of the Cyberlink H.264 decoder do you have? If you have the one that comes with PowerDVD8 then you'll need to add "CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)" to the <SupportedH264Decoders> setting in config.xml to get it to show up as an option in the config app.

OK I have downloaded h.264 from Cyberlink today (latest version)

My config.xml shows 2 versions
SupportedH264Decoders>CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD7.x),CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (AzureWave),ffdshow Video Decoder,CoreAVC Video Decoder,ArcSoft Video Decoder</SupportedH264Decoders>
<PreferredH264VideoDecoder>System Default</PreferredH264VideoDecoder

the cyberlink program does not show as an option in config. How can i do this - do i need to delete some stuff??

Unfortunately "latest version" doesnt tell me which one you have.

As I said above, if you have the one that comes with PowerDVD8 then you'll need to add "CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)" to the <SupportedH264Decoders> setting in config.xml to get it to show up as an option in the config app. If you've got some other Cyberlink H.264 decoder, then you'll need to add its name instead.

You can use a tool like the directshow filter manager from http://www.softella.com to check the name.
