Dual Hauppauge PVR250s - I get constant judder when playing back anything recorded with these tuner cards. (saving in .mpg format). Only way to get rid of the judder is to either repeatedly hitting the # key, or skip back and forward.

However, if I dowload a show from BitTorrent in .avi format, it plays perfectly, whether I skip forward or back.

Latest Hauppauge drivers.

It sounds like the quartz.dll thingy. Do forum search for more info.

I'm having the same problem but I use 2 PVR-150 cards. It seems to be happening quite often since upgrading to GBPVR 1.2.9. I had replaced my quartz.dll quite a while ago and I just checked it and it is still the "good" (older) version. Some shows are OK, but some are unwatchable. (is that a word?) Some shows skip so much then eventually just pause (video & sound) and if left along, the show will eventually continue, or I can skip forward to find that continuation spot. If I go back, it skips in all the same spots, so I think it may be a bad recording and not a playback problem. I use Comskip and it has been able to go through and make the commercials in all the right spots. Very weird...

First thing I'd do is try a different mpeg decoder.

same problem. the recording gets bad. using dual hvr1600 on a 6 month old system. dual core AMD, 2 gig ram and 1.2.9.

Did not have the problem in 1.1.5.

Non-tv recordings work great, but recordeed stuff gets jittery/stuttery.

Any ideas?

Recorded gets jittery after skipping?? If so definitely sounds like the quartz.dll issue. You have to down grade from Directx 9.0c dll (have a look here for quartz.dll and there's thread which mentions the version numbers you want). Also I've heard that maybe XP Sp3 might help....But only been confirmed by one user.

installed sp3 today
might be hoping but i reckon it may be better than even the directx9.0b
still testing

you need to figure out if its recorded bad or playback
write a dvd or playback on another machine and see if it changes the playback

It's the recording. Playign the same file over and over again in different programs makes the jitter, stutter, "jump forward in time" at the same place in the recorded show.

I'm using Vista SP1 btw.
