I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.

Recording service crashing
NOD32, Panda Antivirus, WebRunner and Net Limiter (and some other software) are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they may need to be uninstalled before installing this update. Its possible you may just be able to set an exclusion of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe process - but I'm not sure if this is possible with all these apps.

To help you identify if you have this problem, when the recording service crashes, the following message is at the end of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file:

Code:
9/4/2006 3:02:39 PM.625 ERROR [7] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: [b]System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory[/b]. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
at System.Net.UnsafeNclNativeMethods.OSSOCK.WSAGetOverlappedResult(SafeCloseSocket socketHandle, IntPtr overlapped, UInt32& bytesTransferred, Boolean wait, IntPtr ignored)
at [b]System.Net.Sockets.BaseOverlappedAsyncResult[/b].Compl etionPortCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* nativeOverlapped)
at System.Threading._IOCompletionCallback.PerformIOCo mpletionCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* pOVERLAP)

UPDATE: Microsoft now has a hot fix available for this common incompatibility between firewall software and the .NET 2.0 Remoting. You can read about here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028/en-us and download the hotfix from http://www.gbpvr.com/Hotfix_Net2_KB923028.zip

Choice of MVP dongle.bin on Vista
This release includes the Hauppauge 1.1.47 dongle.bin, which will work well for Windows XP and Windows 2000 users, but unfortunately has issues with Vista. Hauppauge are currently investigating these issues. While Hauppauge tries to sort this out, the best option for Vista users is to use the mvpmc dongle from: http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/donglex2a.zip

Download this file and extract the file to the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\dongle" directory, then briefly remove the power from the MVP to force it to reinitialise itself.

Old GBPVR.exe UI is no longer part of the release
The old GBPVR.exe executable is no longer included with the release. Users that had stuck with the old interface will either have to switch to the new PVRX2.exe UI, or stick with the old release of the application.

For users that had modified their installs to use GBPVR.exe as their MVP server, you'll need to reset <MVPServer>PVRX2.exe</MVPServer> in config.xml so that your setup can find the correct MVP server process.

Web server on Vista
This release has the problem as 1.2.9 before it, where Vista users may need to go into the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, and view the GBPVR Recording Service properties to tick the 'allow service to interact with desktop' checkbox. If you dont do this, the web server may not start.

PopcornHour users keep in mind the web server is used for streaming files, so this means you too.

Shutdown/Hibernate/Restart/Standby buttons not working in settings screen
Sorry I left a test setting the wrong way in the release. To get these buttons working working again, set <SystemRestartIsAppOnly>false</SystemRestartIsAppOnly> in config.xml

Crash during channel scan
Several users have reported a crash while scanning their digital capture devices for channels. Most of these users have been in the UK, but it could also affect users in other locations.

A patch to correct this can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=90

Live TV requiring getting black screen when starting live tv, until first channel change
A few people have reported having this problem, and have found they needed to set <BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnLivePreview> to 'true' in config.xml.

If you decide to make this change and edit config.xml, remember to backup your file beforehand. Edit the file with Notepad.
