Hey,

Newly installed Vista Home Premium, and I've been attempting to get the Aver m780 PCIE ATSC card to work.
It seems with the newer Vista drivers, the m780 tuner filter can only connect to "Microsoft Network Provider" and cannot connect to "Microsoft ATSC Network Provider" which is what GBPVR is expecting as can be seen from the picture attached.
Some have had similar problems with the ATI-650, but worked around it by installing the XP drivers over the Vista ones (post here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=6 )
Does anyone have an older driver set for XP that I can test with?
The config logs do show "Failed to start BDA graph"

Thanks for the help,
CFC

Yes, I could connect those filters.

I assume you don't have VMC? That card is supposed to work with VMC in Vista, so I would assume it would work with other apps as well. Gotta love Vista Wink

Thanks for looking into it.
I'm pretty convinced that the issue lies in the fact that in Vista I can't make that connection with the "ATSC" filter, but rather the other one. GBPVR calls the ATSC one when creating its graph.
Maybe if Sub can somehow allow the graph to be created with the other Network provider it might work, but of course I have no idea :o

I do have VMC, and the card works fine with it, I just wish it could work with GBPVR. Maybe it'll get worked on down the road.

Anyway, thanks for looking at it, I really appreciate it

To follow-up a bit, I installed SageTV trial and it loaded the card fine and I was able to tune some ATSC stations. So at least some software besides the Aver and VMC can work with it.

I won't go into the details, as this is GB-PVR's forums, but I now have really good support for QAM with this card under SageTV.

That said, it was easier to get it working with GB-PVR. Sub and those that helped him with QAM have done an excellent job.

Cool.
I do get the same problem with MediaPortal.
So it seems right now I can use Sagetv, VMC and the crappy Aver player to use the card with Vista Home Premium.
If someone has success using this card and GBPVR with Vista Home Premium please let me know.

Thanks,

Sub seems on top of things. I think he went on vacation for a bit, but if you zip up your logs and such he might be able to help you.

You're right.
I've attached my config-native log. It shows the expected error of:

Quote:2008-06-06 05:49:31.200 ERROR Failed to start BDA Graph
2008-06-06 05:49:31.201 VERBOSE ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED

Sad
The problem is much worse than I thought, I can't even connect my DVB-S card now.
I really hope I'm missing something. I just wish I could find a solution. Maybe sub will be able to help when he gets back.
I've attached another screen capture.
