How is the Quality Profile Setting in the "Direct Recording Configuration" window supposed to be used?

If I select a setting like "Low Quality" and then click the Ok button and then re-open that dialog, it always goes back to "Medium Quality" regardless of what I select!

Is this just an interface to edit the seting for each of these profiles? If so, where do I specify which profile I want recordings to use?

Yes, this is just an interface for editing each of the profiles.

You can select what profile to use when you actually schedule a recording.

I have the same problem ... the bitrate goes randomly from 2000+ to 6000+ even when the low quality profile is selected........

There is a lot of people who are just fine with the iidea of having a 3 GB file for one hour of DIVX using the "low quality profile" (2000kbs).... but I know that with go cap .. one hour of Video is about 800mb - 1 Gb... NOT 3GB!!!

But anyways.... got to appreciate what a fine job this app is besides that problem! [Image: cool.gif]

You dont have the same problem. cginzel was misunderstanding how the recording quality is selected when making a recording.

You problem relates to the Plextor driver ignoring my DivX bitrate requests. A status update for your benefit: I have been looking at this problem recently and have been in touch with WIS (the chipset manufacturer), but still have the problem. As far as I can tell, I am correctly setting the bitrate requested by the user (you), but the drivers are ignoring my request and setting it to the maximum everytime (I can see this using the dbgview utility from sysinternals.com). Unfortunately I have virtually no documentation on how the bitrate needs to be set, and no technical contacts who can tell me what I'm doing wrong. [Image: sad.gif]

lol - thats a slightly different problem again.

I have no documentation on how to set the bitrate the PVR2000, so I dont even try. The bitrate you getting in this case is whatever the default is. I also dont have access to a PVR2000, so its only marginally supported.

Just a thought sub, but as you get more users, it would seem these companies would be interested in donating hardware to you so you could support it in GB-PVR...

Maybe you could add a blurb on your website soliciting that vendors do so and tell them where to send the merchandise!

cuxe_ivan, good news. After spending a couple of days looking at this, I've resolved the problem. In the next release, you'll get nice small DivX files out of your Plextor (also you guys with TV Walker devices).

Thanks for working on this issue, this is a great software but the "bitrate problem" was kind of a hassle...

I'm looking forward to dowloading the new release!

Any ideas when will it be available on the site?

Thanks again!
