Hi everyone
I have setup telnet using the survival guide and can now see it.
I can run telnet and everything works.
I then click on gbpvr on the popcorn from the telnet html screen.
The screen flashes a few times then a popcorn screen comes up saying remember to back up your hard drive and then goes back to the start up screen.
I have been at this for days now and slowly getting frustrated.
In the survival guide it says ensure your screen dimensions match the display command line. Can any one tell me where both of these are?
The TV is pal and is not hd. I pasted the sample config from the survival guide into config.xml. and have changed the width and height but still no gbpvr on the popcorn.
I have attached the logs
Using XP pro and zonealarm security suite

Help please !!!
thanks

Your gbpvr setting look ok so assuming your PCH has an 192.168.1.nn IP, I think the problem is related to zone alarm or the xp firewall.

Don't worry about the dimensions, in PAL mode it is pretty straight forward.

Thanks Martin
I turned off zone alarm and turned off the firewall on local are connection but still the same result.
I have no router, they are directly connected so I had to use maual ip addresses.
I also have a hard drive in the popcorn with all apps running except the torrents. Can any of these cause a problem ?
I cant wait to get it up and going, then I can move onto the next big problem. The capture card!!
Any way cant look to far ahead yet.
thanks

As stustunz says I don't know if the PCH supports MDI/MDI-X so you might need a cross over cable but I doubt it is a problem if as you say you can telnet into your PCH.

I suggest trying to manually connect via telnet and seeing what error you see. The command is.

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal

I went through the thread, I already have the ip addressess in the same subset.
From the pc I telnet the popcorn ant then typed in /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal I get a screens of information but near the end it says System is going down then system is down
The line before is [src/mem_mgr.c:853] DCC-HD MRUA memory allocator uninitialized
any thoughts or logs you might need
thanks

If you can capture the telnet logs with putty I will have a look.

You showed a "Segmentation fault" in those logs with DirectFB You need to unplug your PCH to clear that and do this right from scratch.
