OK, so the pc shop near me is having a sale on 500gig SATAII drives and I was planning on buying 2 of them and re-installing my whole pc to run as my htpc.
I will still have my old C: drive laying around to throw into another pc, that way I can pull everything off of it that I need, the question is, if I am doing a fresh install of gbpvr and all of my plugins, is there a way of keeping all of my info, ie. new recordings, scheduled recordings and all the info from the programs I've recordeded? And If I reinstall comskip, it won't write over the old comskip files that are with all my shows will it?

Assuming the old drive had the same version of GB-PVR installed as the new machine, and the recordings have been copied to the same path as they were on the old disk, then you should be able to copy the gbpvr.db3 file from the old disk over the new one (then restart the recording service).

Easiest way is too create the same folder structure on your new system that existed on your old system.
Copy all videos, recordings, music, etc to their directories.
Install the same version of gbpvr on the new system that you used on your old system. Just install and click ok when config comes up.
VERY IMPORTANT: change the next entry in your old config.xml to FALSE:
Code:
<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

Then: copy your old gbpvr.db3 and config.xml to your new system.
Restart the recordingservice. Now everything should be working.
When you are sure everything works fine you can change back the above entry.

Wait for other people who might have additional advice (that I forgot).

Good luck,

Hans

Edit: Ok sub I can tell you had a few days off. Welcome back.

I would take it in 2 steps, 1st install the old version than if everything works install the new version.

WOW, thanks for being so detailed. So I'm assuming that you can just upgrade from 1.29 to 1.3. As for my other directories, such as my music dir. do I need to have all of the same files or can I just make sure that the folder is there (I have all of my albums converted to mp3 and I was going to place the folder in a different place on the new system.) Can I just create a folder (c:/backup/mp3/mp3 albums) on the new system and than manually delete that folder later and add a new folder in gbpvr for my music (c:/mp3s)?

Yes you can, all you have to do then is to point to your new music-directory in config-directories.
For the recordings it's important to have the same folders on the old and new system otherwise all the show-info will be lost and you would only be able to play them through the video-archive.
Take care that you don't copy the gbpvr.db3 from version 1.2.9 into version 1.30. That's why I advised to make the system running first in 1.29 and than upgrade to 1.30.

Edit: version 1.3 ofcourse is version 1.2.13

One more quick question to all the pc folks out there. Since I purchased 2 new HDs and also a new SATA DVD drive, I need 2 use the 2 drives to replace my existing 2. Is there a way to MAKE SURE that my 2 new HDs are set as C: (yes I know this one will set as default) and D:? I don't know if there's a way to accomplish this or not, but I need those directories in order to do a "hot swap" of my gbpvr.db3 file.

just have the two drives and the DVD running on the PC before installing windows. if the DVD is D and the 3nd HDD E:, you can swap them around in disk admin.
