Anyone else get this? When you pause live TV, and leave it paused for 10min or more or so, and when you unpause it, it can take almost a minute or even more to start playing again (depending on the length of the pause spool).

I'm wondering if there is a setting (GB or system) that causes or can fix fix.

Does your system have enough RAM? Just a guess but maybe something is getting swapped out during the pause.

Yeah I get this a bit as well, but not really enough to be annoying...

If I'm gonna pause for a while (and if I remember to do it), I'll just stop it, and then resume when i come back..

There's 1Gb for XP Home, GB, and nothing else. I just checked, and 1/2 of that is free, and there's still 1.5Gb set aside in VM that isn't even touched. I think I will try a test later where I hold a pause and see what happens to those numbers.

If this wasn't paused live TV, I would do that. Even then, it's not a problem w/ recorded items or AVIs.

I'm running a test now. Pausing TV does not seem to effect ram at all....physical or virtual.

What doesn't make sense is if I pause or watch a recorded show (same bitrate as live), and the size of the file is much larger than the paused file, it doesn't have an effect. All I can think of is that since the file is being written to has the effect. It never seems to mind when I reverse, but if I FF after a long pause, it also can act up.

I have my recoring buffer on the same drive as GB. I could always move it to my D drive, but I dind't want to spin both while watching TV to help keep temps down.

It seems a little better since I closed/re-opened and ran a defrag. I'll need to test it some just doing normal use stuff to see if that's the trick, or if it needs a combo of events to happen. If no one else is getting it generally, and unless everyone defrags often, then I doubt that's it.

The only other difference is I watch w/ the live TV setting off, so I'm always time-shifting. I guess if anyone else has this behavior, throw in a few details if possible. I don't think it's necessarily a GB problem/bug. I'm just interested in seeing if it's caused because of something specific or by certain use.

You're not alone with this problem - I'm getting something similar, but even worse - pausing live TV for any amount of time seems to cause problems - Attempting to resume after pause gives sound for a few seconds with the video still paused, then the audio will pause again with the video also still paused. After waiting a variable amount of time, things will start working again, but the audio and video are several seconds out of sync - doing a rewind is enough to get it back in sync.

I've tried changing the Mux, the Audio and Video decoders and so far, no luck at all in fixing it...

I'd also be interested in any suggestions for how to fix this problem...

I too am seeing this problem, although I'm pretty sure that for me it can also happen in recordings if the programme is still recording. It always seems to start in the end but often (if its a recording) it is quicker to stop and resume, can be over a minute pause though. I assume its something to do with having to scan back through the file to find the resume point while the file is still being written to, could be that fragmentation is a factor.

I've done some more playing around with this problem.

The problem only seems to occur when attempting to play back a file that is still being recorded - in my case, either when trying to watch timeshifted Live TV through PVRX2, or attempting to watch a file in PVRX2 that is still being recorded by Web Scheduler Pro.

Playing back files that have finished recording don't seem to exhibit this problem.

The only conclusion that I can come up with is that PVRX2 seems to be doing something weird to pause/restart playback - Using Graphedit to connect to the running graph in PVRX2, I can pause and restart the playback PERFECTLY every time! After using Graphedit to pause and restart a few times, I found that PVRX2 pause and restart was better, but still not as good as when pausing and restarting with Graphedit. Resuming in Graphedit was always immediate and with the sound and video starting together. The best I could get with PVRX2 was still a short pause after trying to resume playback.

Unless a solution to this problem can be found soon, I think I'll just have to dump GBPVR/PVRX2 - this really isn't good for the WAF, and I'm not too impressed by it either...
