Hi there,

I've recently re-built my HTPC. Earlier this year, I moved from the UK to New Zealand and my previous machine wasn't up to the specs to decode freeview TV here in NZ!

My new machine is:
Asus M3N-H Motherboard (Onboard Geforce 8300)
AM2+ 4200 CPU
1Gb DDR2 800MHz
Nebula DigiTV Tuner Card
Win XP MCE

I've spent a few weeks trying to get things running - looking over the forums to solve problems. I was slowly ironing out the problems...

Up until last week, my recordings were running pretty well. I could schedule recordings and they would be recorded no problems. I have found that I get a much smoother picture if I watch them via Media Player or Powercinema, but I still need to work through that..

In the last week, I've had quite a repeatable problem, and don't think that I've changed anything which would have created it.

I asked the PC to record a show on TV2, and saw that it was recording. When I went to play the show back, it had actually recorded TV1. I figured it maybe was a one-off glitch, so restarted the computer and let it record something on TV2 the following night - same problem!

The strange thing is, if I go to the guide, and select 'watch' on a show on TV2, it plays TV2 - no problems. As soon as I ask it to 'record' something on TV2, it records TV1!?

If I ask it to record TV1 or TV3 that works fine.

Any ideas - has anyone seen this before?!

Thanks,
Danny

The only times I've had problems where recordings are the wrong channel, but watching them from the EPG worked is when you have more than one source defined - and you make an error in setting up a tuner.
This is because recording is "top down" and watching is "bottom up" (of the tuners in the list). I found I had made an error with setting up one tuner, but when watching live TV it always used the other tuner unless it was busy.

Try backing up your gbpvr.db3 file, and then re-installing GBPVR to a DIFFERENT folder to last time, then re-instating the backed-up gbpvr.db3 file.

This solved the same problem for me over the weekend, though it has since manifested itself again, and that solution did not work.

Go into the config tool before trying to watch anything - you'll need to edit all your capture sources, agreeing to all the channel configuration stuff so the database will update itself to point to the transponder lists in the new folder.

(I'd typed up a much more detailed description of the above, but the damn system logged me out before I could click "Submit Reply." Hope that's enough detail for you to give it a try.)

Thanks for the replies!

Firstly, I only have a single tuner, so - before reinstalling, I tried to remove only the tuner and reinstall that. It didn't help the problem!

I don't have any external channel changer set (the only place to set that is in the tuner settings right?)

I've notice that trying to record Channel 4 it records another channel too.

By reinstalling to a different folder, I guess you mean removing the program and then installing it again. I tried re-installing without removing the program first and it just wanted to 'repair' the program - which didn't help!

The other half is watching TV at the moment, so I might have to try that tomorrow!

Cheers...

I followed the instructions on here:

http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net...B-PVR.html

What it does:

It will automatically download the EPG XML file from http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/listings-freeview.xml.gz and will extract the xml EPG file.

The strange thing is, if I click 'watch' (which I'm doing right now), it goes straight to TV2 - just as you'd expect. But, if I now chose to 'record' TV2, it changes to TV One!!? When it records TV One, it still thinks it's recording TV2 (info at the bottom of the screen when you play the recording etc)....

in config when you mapped your tv stations make sure they are mapped to the correct station from your guide data

also check that you have the stations enabled
and that the numbers under channel are 1,2,3,4 etc match 1,2,3,c4 etc

also what does it record if you choose tvnz6

My related problem is that the channel recorded is always the first one in the multiplex, and not the requested channel. So the tuning request generated by a record operation is somehow ignoring the V, A, TSID, etc. elements of the tuning request, and grabbing the nearest channel in the multiplex. I fixed this before, as I thought, by re-installing GBPVR to a clean directory. This would have overwritten my config.xml file (the BDA parameters of which I tweaked in line with some forum suggestions to deal with crashes during channel scans). Maybe if Danny has similarly tinkered with his config.xml, doing a 'factory reset' might solve the problem.

It's odd, though, that live TV works ok. There's obviously some difference in the source code, which rides out whatever the problem is, but only for live TV. Don't suppose we can see the relevant source code? Smile

Do a recording then zip and attach your logs and I'll take a look.
