Hi, me again, sorry!

I can view live tv, but get no sound. If I open the .ts file in graphedit, I get a sound renderer and can play the file with sound. It moans about another stream not being able to render but I think this is subtitles.

From within PVRX2 I can play other media files with sound, just not live TV.

I have tried changing the codec and renderer in config.exe without luck, I have also tried un-ticking the use internal ts reader option too. I also tried prissing the right key and can see a full green bar in the speaker display.

Unfortunately I'm using vista and graphedit can't seem to find any remote graphs.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Neil.

OK, done a little more messing around, trying vrious filters etc no change.

I tried adding the buffer filder to the video directory and trying to play .ts files in the PVRx2 video player. Still no sound, however if I rename the file to a .avi and play it, sound!

Could this be a problem with inetrnal handling of .ts files?

Right, still not working, but I found a setting in config.xml that will create graph files. So here's the graphs for working and not working.

Unfortunately the not working graph also crashes graphedit so I can;t view it in there, but what I do see is the "source" DS filter changes from the Matroska splitter for the working graph and the GBPVR TS reader for the non-working graph. Tried deleting this, will not play live ts, then re-registering it, still no sound.

I think there may be a problem with the GBPVR TS reader and either reading my live tv .ts file or finding an appropriate pin to render the audio to.

Graphs attached.

Thanks,

Neil.

Also, if it helps, I have uploaded a sample .ts file to:

It's also probably worth noting that I get the same issue on all of my PCs, which run XP Home, Vista x86 & Vista x64.

The recordingservice log for this file is:

Here's the latest (still not working).

I found that if I build a graph in graphedit using the "GBPVR TS Reader", I get no audio. If I load the file in graphedit and let it render the source I get audio. The problem looks to be with the "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" which seems to be a system filter by MS.

I have tried the Elecard MPEG player and this multiplexer also produces no audio but in both cases (elecard and ms) they render the audio PIN.

However, if I install the NVIDIA decoder and in graphedit load the GBPVR TS Reader filter, render the output pin I get the NVIDIA Transport Demux filter is used instead of the MPE2 Demultiplexer and I get audio!

The problem now is that PVRX2 still seems to want to use the MPEG2 Demultiplexer even though graphedit renders the NVIDIA Transport Demux by default. Is there any way I can override this?

Thanks,

Neil.

I downloaded your sample TS file and had a go at playing it, and it actually played fine here in both GB-PVR, and in GraphEdit with the GB-PVR TS Reader -> MPEG-2 Demultiplexer.

I cant think of anything I've changed in there post 1.2.13, but I guess its possible I did. If so, hopefully it'll work for you from the next release.

Thanks for testing the file.

What I notice is that there is more than one audio pin when I open the TS file from another TS reader, the first audio pin has audiable content, the second other doesn't.

Your TS reader only outputs one audio stream, is there a way I can tell your TS reader which audio stream to read?

Thanks,

Neil.

Hi Sub,

I've resolved this for now, by removing the MS Demux and hacking the registry to rename the NVIDIA Transport Demux to have the friendly name of the MPEG-2 Demultiplexer, so your FindFilterByName method adds the NVIDIA mux to the graph instead.

In the next release, is there any chance of a less hacky config option to set the friendly name of the directshow demux to use? That way if there's still problems with the MS demux on the next release an alternate demux can be used for live TV.

Thanks,

Neil.

To be honest, no. I only test with the MS demux, and that the only way I'll support the app running.

You can use the existing <PreferredMpegPlaybackDemux> setting in config.xml to control the selection of demux in some situations (not TS playback), but there is too many specific features I depend on in MS demux to use it everywhere.

Could you provide more detailed instructions on how to do this please as I have not had sound on live TV for months and keep using time shift mode to get sound which is a major hassle. I was considering a reinstall but again that is a major hassle also.

How did you remove the MS demux? Could you maybe export the registry file as I also have Nvidia mux installed.

Thanks.

Scott.
