Where i live comcast has added 2 channels for the olympics, one dedicated to soccer, one to basketball. (this is on the digital side in HD)

When i did a rescan to see if i could get the channels on clear QAm. I was able to find them and the preview window showed me the channel

I then created a channel in and mapped the data to it. Then when i went to the guide and clicked on the channel it crashe PVRX2, and i couldnt get it to work.

Any idea, i dont have my logs right now but if needed will post when i get home tonight

Also is there some reason that you would be able to see a channel in preview when scanning, but not when trying to view live TV?

Thanks

I owe you a thanks for this comment, as I saw those two new channels too. I set up to do a scan, on the slim chance that they might be in clear QAM, but then decided not to as I was recording Olympics and didn't want to stop. I think I'll go back and see if mine are in clear too.

Look at the logs. I won't be creating any channels. My channels showed up in the guide data, and I'm set up so that new channels automatically appear in the guide. I disabled them in my source for the EPG. I'll just re-enable and map the digital to them if it shows up clear QAM during my scan. Could you tell me what physical channel they are under for your system so I can minimize the scan time? (The mapping data for the channel in config has it.)

I'll leave this for sub.

No problem

I am using Yapi for my data and i didnt see them listed, for my scan it was 78.xxx not sure what the numbers were, but it was in the 78 range

also please post back if you are able to get it to work, it should work for me even if i dont have guide data, the only thing is that the channel does not display anything but a schedule when there are no games being played, i'll try again tonight

My wife is running a scan for me right now. (Only time when Olympics not being recorded.) Do you recall anything at all about the channel number or frequency where you found them? My clear QAM channels are local broadcast channels at low frequency and miscellaneous channels like MPLEX, DIY, CSPAN2 at high frequency.

The only info i can give you is that when scanning for the channels, i found them located at 78.xxx, there were 3 numbers after it, i unfortunately dont have access to the comp from work,

Let me know if that helps

Yes, that helps. 78 is the physical channel number. I looked over the scan results my wife sent, and there were some new subchannels at 78, but they were all marked "unknown," which usually means scrambled. I did find one new one in the clear, in 90 but it was a news channel. I'll be scanning again tonight, and maybe find something then when I can look more closely.

I woulnt just assume it is encypted because it is unknown. all channels except the local channels are listed as unknown for me, and some of them come in as clear qam. All the unknown mean is that comcast (or any other cable operator) is not transmitting the name like they do for the local channels, i would still look at them

From 1.2.13 you should get an asterisk next to channels that are unencrypted in the scan results.

No not really, but reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.
