I've now RMA'd this thing 3 times and it still quits in the middle of recordings. According to GBPVR's status, it is still recording, but the light is on & the file size quits growing.

I'm at my wits end - is there anything in the logs that might indicate the trouble?

The latest recording to quit was an episode of Psych on 9/2 from 00:05 to 01:05

I'm hoping that I can still return it for my $$ back...

GB-PVR doesnt monitor the device between starting and stopping the recording, so its not aware if a the device stops delivering data mid stream. Because of this, there is nothing in the logs that would show it. Sorry.

Thanks. Nothing shows up in the event viewer either. Device manager says everything is fine. I tried switching USB ports, but that didn't make a difference either.

I did some googling & apparently some folks on the Sage forums are also still having occasional mishaps w/ rev C2 units as well - so I'm not alone.

Anyone else in GBPVR land still having issue w/ partial recordings from their HDPVR's?

I did a lot of research on the HD PVR before purchasing it and I noticed one thing that you might find interesting, it may also be the problem your having.

There were several reports from people that had multiple computers to test with along with 2 HD PVR's of different versions (a C1 and a C2) that couldn't get the C2 to work on every computer they had. Some of thier computers worked fine with both HD PVR's, but not the one they were trying to setup for thier main PVR computer.

The reason I mention this, is if you have a laptop or some other machine available to test with, you might want to try it and see if your problem goes away. I didn't see any mention of a solution to this issue, though I don't think anyone tried anything more drastic than changing the USB cable.

I've been sticking it out & it's been about a week since the last hiccup. It seems to occur infrequently enough that I can live with it.

I set up duplicate recordings on our Comcast DVR to cover in the event of a missed recording. The hard drive on the cable co's unit doesn't hold very much (and I can't stream it to other rooms), so I pretty much only use it for backup.

Only problem I see is that I'm going to be away for a few weeks later on this month, so I might miss some shows - although I'll probably watch them on hulu from my hotel.
