Hi,

I have FIOS TV at home and have a bunch of clear channel QAM, can I scan for those? I can do it with MediaPortal but have not found a way to do that with GBPVR.

Yes GB-PVR does QAM, but you obviously need to have a supported QAM device. (HDHomeRun, Hauppauge HVR1600/1800/2200/950Q/1250, VistaView DA-1N1-I/DA-1N1-E, OnAir GT)

Yes I have Pinncale HD Stick Pro. As I said MediaPortal with that device allows me to scan for clear QAM channels (it takes an hour +) but shows all available clear QAM channels. Is there such thing (scan of QAM channels) available by GBPVR?

Some people have been able to get Pinnacle sticks working with QAM. Run the filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then attach your filtercheck.log and I'll check exactly which Pinnacle stick you have.

Try adding this to your bda.ini file. If you get lucky it might work

[Pinncale HD Stick Pro (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER="PCTV DiB BDA Digital Tuner (Dev1 Path0) "
FILTER_CAPTURE=PCTV DiB BDA Digital Capture (Dev1 Path0)
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

You should be able to choose the "Pinncale HD Stick Pro (QAM)" option when you setup your capture source.

I can already select compatible Pinnacle Device right now. My question is once this is setup how can I scan for QAM channels? Will there be something in UI which will allow to scan for clear QAM channels like MediaPortal does?

When you setup your capture source and hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels' it'll start scanning. With a regular ATSC device selected it'll scan 68 channels. If you have a Clear QAM device selected it'll scan 140 odd channels.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for, UI is little different from MP where you scan first and then select mapping, while in GBPVR it's reversed. Thanks for excellent support.
