Hi, went to watch a dvb-t channel (livetv) and after a few seconds of stuttery playback the image froze and the meter for signal strength/quality appeared (indicating no strength or quality).
PVRX2 would not respond to mouse clicks of the keyboard - it was completely hung.
I've seen this sort of hang quite a few times. Can PVRX2 be made a bit more robust so that it doesn't hang when the signal drops to zero?

I've seen this as well. I have resorted to quickly changing away from channels known for reception problems if I see things getting goofy.

I recently implemented a PVRX2.exe killing batch file tied to ctrl-alt-k that could at least help recovery. (Support thread here.)

No matter what I do, its going work like crap if you have a poor signal, so you'd need to fix your signal.

It shouldnt hang though, so reproduce the hanging problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Ok I'm not sure if I should post against this thread - just had another pvrx2 crash, this time playing back a recording, but the recording I think has discontinuities in it, so sort-of similar.
Please find attached some logs and a screenshot of a crash. I watched a few minutes of a recorded Family Guy episode and when I right-clicked to return to the menu, pvrx2 crashed (see screenshot).

1) I noted in GBPVRTray.exe.log that it's truncated part-way. Seems irrelevant since the logging was from 2 days earlier, and weird that there'd been no more recent logging, but the file timestamp is that of the crash (or unless that's because I stopped gbpvr services to copy the logs).
2) Ignore exceptions in GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log (I assume they are from the epg function trying to connect to the internet, but this PC is not networked).
3) Nasty looking exception in PVRX2.exe-1.log (although it's from 2 days earlier).

Didn't look to me to be any errors at the time of the crash, so hope there's some other weird setting earlier which you can spot!

Also (although I don't expect this to be a factor), the day before this I finally got around to synchronising the HVR2200 section name in the bda and direct.ini files and had scheduled a test recording (one analog, one digital, at the same time). Just prior to playing FG (and the crash soon after), I'd tried playing back both these recordings and each worked (great!) and I right-clicked out of each after being part-way through, no problems.

Hope this helps,
Phil

You'll need to set your logging level back to 'debug' then reproduce the error and repost the logs.

Oh crap it isn't set to debug?? I'd switched that back on a few days ago but maybe the setting got lost during a crash...!?!
