Hey, folks. I just built a PVR (check my blog at BYOPVR.com if you're really curious), and I've been trying to find a skin for GB-PVR that works well both for me and has a high WAF.

I've downloaded a couple of skins from the "Downloads" page as well as the Documentation Wiki, but on some of them I'm getting the dreaded "Error: Object Reference Not Set to An instance of an object" message when I attempt to go into different modules. I'd really like to use the BlueTask skin, but I can't get to the TV Guide or some of the other modules without getting the error.

Everything is working great with the default skin, so is there any way I can figure out what the problem is and fix it myself? I am a software developer by trade, so I'm comfortable going in and changing configurations and code. I know I need to look in the error log, but is there a general rule to try to fix these problems?

after version 0.238 sub changed a few things in the skins here and there, some skins havent been updated to accomodate these changes, so you would have to update the skins yourself (or ask the original designer to do it) the gbpvr.exe.log will tell you what was missing, and so you could correct the error in the skin.xml file, or you could just compare each skin.xml file to the ones found in the blue skin.

I'm guessing the skin has not been updated, meaning its probably missing some of the required items.

There is a post on the second page of: http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?a...2154;st=10 which describes the changes made in the last release. It make be worth adding these changes into the BlueTask skin.

Awesome, guys.

I'll take a shot at it over the next day or two.

Hey sub. Any thought of creating a skin XML Schema to use as a starting validation point for the skin files. This way you at least know that the skin conforms to the most current schema that GBPVR is expecting.
